Goaltending is playing a real part in the turn around. Domingue and Schneider not only won games, they allowed the team to mercifully ship Cormier off to the ECHL. Senn had some rough patches in his first North American gig but seems to have really found his game and McIntyre has one goal against in two games. If Zane keeps it up the rest of the way then the 2021 7th round pick used to get Domingue was well spent.

I expect one or two reinforcements in the form of Thompson and Walsh from NCAA. Walsh will need to be protected 5 on 5 but his impact on the PP will be tremendous. Thompson based on his production in a tough conference should instantly produce in the top 6 similar to Seney.

Seney - Street - Anderson
Boqvist - Maltsev - Merkley
Kuokkanen - Sharangovich - Thompson
Conner - Mcleod - Bastian

Extras: Zetterlund, Studenic

Cuminsky - Jacobs
Mermis - Tennyson
Claesson - Walsh

Extra: White, Melchiori

No team in the AHL can match that depth, they may even let Anderson prep for next season without going back down.

I'd be surprised if Walsh left school to play in the AHL. Remember, the Devils played Wood and Santini for a single game and then let them return to BC - I feel like something similar would happen with Walsh.

they didn’t return to bc other than to finish the semester. once you sign a pro contract you are ineligible to play in the ncaa

Pretty unbelievable stats for McIntyre in his first two games. Can anyone who has watched the games give some extra info? Luck, easy shots, or could we actually have something here? AHL starter, NHL backup?

Very calm guy with it seems good positioning and pretty good catching glove. But hey, it's two games and his numbers have not been great in the past so I expect him to be nothing really special in the longer run. But in his first two games he certainly looked like a world beater...

I hope McIntyre becomes something good so the arena and these boards can use the Drew Mcintyre theme all the time :D

So what's actually causing this insane run? Was the team supposed to be pretty good but started slow? I've seen comments that they've changed their playstyle since Hynes was fired, but how does that playstyle differ?

One thing is that they really defend well and very rarely allow clean shots from anywhere near the goal. There is always a stick, a leg or multiple legs and sticks in the lane. They do this really effectively, also when shorthanded. I mean, yeah, McIntyre made a couple of great saves, also one on a breakaway, but most of the shots were not really high danger shots. Also, guys like Merkley and Boqvist have helped and so have Schneider, Domingue and now McIntyre. Having Cormier in net for a while certainly hasn't helped all that much...
