None of these guys they keep calling up seem all that impressive with the stick. Pompey, Alford, Smith, Urena, Gurriel, all seem like minor league fodder. Maybe it's too early on Gurriel, though. His brother said Lourdes is a better hitter than him. So far, have not seen it. But yes, it's early.

Pompey and Alford were injured in ST. Gurriel and Urena still need more time in the minors. Gurriel looks like he has good potential with the bat. Urena not so much but he is still 22. Pompey is running out of time though.

It isn't like this is Donaldson or Smoak off to a terrible start. This guy was a negative WAR player last year who should have lost his job before 2017 was out.

Hell, if you take out his 2015 outlier year, he has a negative WAR in 2014, 2016 and 2017 combined. He's been mostly a bad player for a really long time.

All those guys are still young. Lets not make over exaggeration claims just because they haven't been superstars at the beginning.
