GDT: 2018 All-Star Game in Tampa Bay | Jan 27-28, 2018

Boston fan here, congrats, well deserved, and I'm not surprised since I attended both Frozen Fours down there, and I don't know any college hockey fan who didn't enjoy Tampa.


By the way, my girlfriend and I spent Christmas in Sarasota, so we're fond of the area(Siesta Beach, best beach on many lists).

I remember attending the 99 game like it was yesterday. Vinny was a rookie and it was Gretzky's last All star game. What a memory.

Shot in the dark here but I would love to go to this. Anybody have any insight on how a guy might obtain some tickets? I know it's early but just seeing what info I can get. Would just be myself most likely.

Is anyone even slightly concerned about the crowds, parking and general cluster bomb downtown? Apparently, last year a show at Amalie was basically ruined because no one could get to it. Not sure how you rectify the problem. The SB gasparilla was another giant mess with 750,000 people.

Its nice to see Tampa get another ASG but nobody really cares too much about those anymore...

The outdoor game is what has my attention! I would love to see that, even if its not in Tampa.

Hoping for something like the Nashville all star game with the John Scott storyline more than the LA star guested all star game that was very boring.

Why? The host team generally gets in the most players, don't see why that'd change on a team full of good players.

Just by format - every team needs to send one and it's tough to fit four from the same team.

Yeah but it seems to happen every year,

Nashville had 4 last year
Blackhawks had 5 in 2015
Sens had 4 in 2012
Blackhawks and Pens each had 4 in 2011

It just screws over other stars but you could justify every TB player

Outside of Nashville last season - the format was way different in 2015 and more players went.

I don't think Sky04 meant last year but two yuears ago when they hosted it they had 4 players though they only got 4 when they added Neil when one of the other players, think it was Toews, couldn't go (tNashville only had one player last year). BH also had 4 players last year in LA while they only had Doughty (LA have 3 players this year).

Nice. All four deserve it. Irrespective of their play (which has been legit), Stammer and Heddy should be representing the organization on home ice, and Vasy and Kuch are both having clear-cut all-star seasons.

Are they doing the young guns/rookie thing this year? Will Serg or someone else be getting in on the fun?

4 is the most you can expect, I think. Great to see us having such a huge year when we're hosting.

I might be in the minority here but I don't care much for the ASG. Skill competitions are fun of course and the drafting (thing of the past) and players messing with each other was kinda entertaining. But the game itself... meh.

Nah - frankly I doubt I'll be watching. I just like our boys getting the accolades.
