Scouting Report: An opportunistic puck rusher who is committed to play for Northeastern, Harris has a quick first
step, excellent straight-line speed and makes heady plays with the puck. He is very comfortable handling the puck
from his own goal line all the way to the corners of the opposing zone. Harris is quite methodical in his approach
and rarely rushes into a situation that could trap his teammates. He makes clean, crisp passes that catch
forwards in stride, but he also can make subtle chips and banks with heavy pressure in his face. He comes across
as an offense-first kind of puck mover, but Harris is very sound in his own end and breaks up a lot of plays by making timely reads or step-ups

This is the only picks that was "off the board" for me, as in, never even heard of the guy lol

But LHD is a need so hopefully he's talented.

In talking with Northeastern fans, they think he's going to be in the top 6 next year, so I'll get to see a lot him as long as Northeastern continues to do free streams of home games. He's got to have some skill to be going directly to the NCAA at 18, which also means no loophole in his Junior year.

I dont have a clue about this team but when you take a close look at all the LD picked, you saw that the quality isnt there after the 1st round. You cant blame the habs for at least to try to fix the boat. I dont like the pick, but like the action and im fair with it

By all accounts, seems like a transitional D with good skating but limited ceilling. Eh, could turn out a bottom pair guy but there was still high reward guys left in the 4th.

Hell, there's still high reward guys now.

The USHS is mostly 14-18 year olds, and the level of competition varies wildly by state.

As well unlike Q teams these kids have to first be accepted by the school's admission criteria before they are eligible to play hockey, which in many cases is very difficult to meet regardless of their hockey ability, thus limiting the coaches options when recruiting and putting a team together. To compare them to a league where players are recruited/drafted purely on their hockey skills with education being secondary is really comparing apples to oranges. As to Harris, my son played him twice this year at KUA and says he is skinny, but is a great player, and he was excited Montreal drafted him.

My point is i dont see how you can evaluate anyone playing in a much inferior league over similar aged players that play against 20 year olds

playing D vs 15 yr olds....

According to my list, this was the worst pick we made in terms of where Jordan ranks positionally. However, I'm not even mad about it. I would have preferred any of Demin, Zhuravlyov, Vallati, Salmela, and McCormick, but two of these guys didn't get drafted and all of them have their own question marks.

that's why they are paid scouts. Kreider, McDonagh, Anders Lee, etc... all drafted directly out of the USHS. Crosby played in the USHS at one of the biggest programs in the US at Shattuck's St Mary's but that's in Minnesota which likely has the best programs in the country followed by the New England league where guys like Higgins, Pac, Kreider played.
