Formenton should be much better overall. Especially offensively. May not reach the defensive iq level of Kelly.
Yeah Vermette would be a better comparison imo

I suspect Nilsson will sign a new contract to stay here. The younger goaltenders have much to prove and the probabilities of success are not high.Theres opportunity in the sens organization with Anderson about to leave and Nilsson not being a permanent fixture. He would be fighting with Gustavsson, Hogberg, and whatever other young guys in the system for a #1 or #2 spot.

Thinking more like DzingleYeah Vermette would be a better comparison imo
Vermette put up 120 points in his 18 year old season, and then 62 points in the AHL as a 20 year old, after missing his entire 19 year old season. Formenton has 98 points over his total OHL career.Yeah Vermette would be a better comparison imo

Not sure there game is comparable aside from the skating.
They were both second rounders, sure. Englund and Gange were as well.Well they are both extremely fast yeah, but they are also both 2nd rounders (Vermette #55 and Forms #47) so they were similarly regarded by the Sens scouts. Sure Vermette put up better junior stats but I'm talking NHL impact. Vermette has career highs of 65 and 53 points. I don't see why Forms can't be a 50 point player in his prime. He also hasn't had a chance to show what he can do in his 20 year old season so we shall see next year.
I think Formenton will be a very good 3rd line LWer for this team who can move up due to injuries. I don't see him putting up 50 pts in any given season in the NHL but will certainly help with secondary scoring & defensively including on the PK. He doesn't seem like a natural playmaker or a player who can carry a line but rather as a complimentary player on any line who can score if a playmaker can get him the puck in scoring areas.
Formenton - Chlapik - Batherson would be an interesting line.
The problem aren't the expectations as much as people don't appreciate the "clearly not the best".
Formenton likely tops out as a solid bottom 6 player. That's fine, but people don't want fine, anything less than "outstanding" is a disappointment.
Cozens is an absolute machine, he's going to be a monster #1 C. Would kill to have him here.CHL Prospects game Combine testing

Sorry but I don’t follow much hockey other than the Sens. Does the kid have a lot of offensive upside? You and me both. He will be a force for whoever drafts him. I'd probably take him #2 in 2018 and #3 in 2019.
Yeah definitely high end point producer and scorer but he can also excel in all situationsSorry but I don’t follow much hockey other than the Sens. Does the kid have a lot of offensive upside?

Cozens aces testing
Cozens finished first in the on-ice testing of 10 different categories. Leason (6-4, 200), a center with Prince Albert of the WHL and No. 17 in Central Scouting's midterm rankings, finished second.
Cozens was first in reaction with puck, second in transition agility with puck, weave agility, reaction, and 30-meter forward skate, and third in weave agility with puck. Leason was first in weave agility, weave agility with puck, and 30-meter forward skate. Bolduc was first in vertical jump and medicine ball toss.
We're not gonna get into Cozens range unfortunately, but all this does is re-assure me that we need to find a way to go and get Brett Leason.
I would not mind if they could get Leason with a later 1st or early 2nd. He is 2 years older than Cozens just an fyi
