Early yet but Maksimov sits 4th in league scoring with 8 goals and 13 points in 7 games.

The goal posted above was nice but a more encouring one was a top corner one timer from the hashmarks on the powerplay. Perfect for Connor in the future.
Not if McLellan is the coach

I was at the Mississauga - Hamilton game last night. McLeod looked really good offensively with 2 assists and had a goal disallowed. Had a number of other nice setups to teammates that they just couldn't finish. Defensively he needs to work on some things, including hustling back a bit faster, but offensively was a good outing.

The Mooseheads freaked out the Sea Dogs 4-0. Ostap Safin wasn't in the lineup.

Ryan McLeod had 2 assists, 2 shots, won 15 of 32 faceoffs and was even, as the Steelheads soaked the Bulldogs 4-3.

Not a good night for Olivier Rodrigue as he got chased against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies after letting in 3 goals on 5 shots in what would end up being a 9-0 loss for the Voltigeurs.

He's now at 7 GP and .875 save percentage.

I'd be a lot more concerned if he was getting totally outplayed by his backup, but his backups Sv% is 50 points lower on the year at .825.

Hey, at least it's not all bad news for our goalie prospects.

Hayden Hawkey(almost forgot we traded for him) has started his senior season at Providence with a 1.35 GAA and .934 SV% through 3 games.

Fellow Friar, Vinny Desharnais, has 2 assists in 3 games.

Posting this here because it's absolutely filthy. He's not ours but he damned well should be. Though it has improved, his skating will probably hold him back from being a full-time NHLer but he's probably the best available OA available in the OHL this year.

Descharnais is not an offensive defenceman. He is a huge guy that is a workhorse. He is the anchor of their defence. Not signing him will be a mistake.

If he's a Senior what am I missing? He can still be signed after this season right? We have our share of defensive defensemen in the system that unless he's a special player it wouldn't be a big loss.

17. Edmonton will have an interesting decision to make on Providence defenceman Vincent Desharnais. The seventh-rounder from 2016 is competing in the NCAAs this weekend on the Friars’ top pair with Jacob Bryson, a Buffalo pick. They went head-to-head against some very good players last week — Adam Gaudette/Dylan Sikura (a 3-2 win over Northeastern) and Jordan Greenway/Brady Tkachuk (a 2-0 loss to Boston University — and played pretty well. Desharnais is a big man at 6-foot-6 and has one more year of college eligibility. If the Oilers don’t sign him, he can be a free agent next summer. Curious to see what they choose to do.

Friedman posted this last March. Kind of odd to suggest he could be going FA a year out, makes you wonder if he heard something.

Seems like he'd be worth developing since he's apparently successful playing big minutes against tough competition in Hockey East.

Who are their other defensive D prospects? Samorukov and Lagesson? Both Left shot guys.

All other right shot guys are more offensive (Bear, Berglund, Persson, Marino).

I suppose Phil Kemp is an intriguing right shot defensive d-man with size, but he could take a long time to develop. Desharnais is 3 years older and 2 full NCAA years ahead.

The Oilers aren't in a position to let valuable prospects walk, especially on defence.

Do we have room for him in Bako this year? Maybe he wants to finish his degree? The game is going away from straight shutdown guys.
