in another thread there was talk about Romanov being a mini Subban or something to that effect, but to me the guy that reminds me the most of Subban is Brook minus the strength part as Subban made huge strides in improving his strength especially lower body which is a must to me. So if anyone can be that 50+ top pairing D for our future, I feel Brook has the best shot as he's got the skills + IQ + most physical tools - skating, speed, mobility, good frame.

Fonstad added a goal finished 1+3, he really is producing at an impressive pace lately...

I actually expected a lot more, being on a top team, after putting up 72 pts last year I thought he'd be in the 90's this year. He was really impressive in the playoffs last year. What hurt him this year is that span of 21 games with just 8 points. The rest of the season he has 58 pts in 39 games. That's a pace of 107 pts if he had done that all season, which is asking a lot I know but even if he was around 92-93 that would be a nice jump in production from last year.

In the end he needs to get stronger, very weak physically as he's easy to knock off the puck but I like his skill level.

Yep he is pretty weak thats for sure, but so much skilled, as for his production, thats why I said "lately"...

As I expected, although not this late, Brook is added a secondary assist to his team's second goal last night vs Regina. So he had 3 points yesterday.
    @montreal @Adam Michaels

He is now just 4 points from the league lead among Ds. He has 4 points more than Smith in 1 more game. Impressive stats and playing from Brook!

I was watching the game and I was wondering why he didn't get an assist on that play....

Btw he got another assist so far today after 2 period.

Bouchard is D+1, as opposed to Brook and Subban. I don't know about others on that list.
Still, given that Brook was injured starting
D+1, This is looking very impressive.

Same age though, Bouchard is a late birthday (and horrific defensively)

Yes, that matters. And when combined with
Brook's injury at start of D+1, you could see them as being comparable. I was more interested in others, whom I remember, but
not when they had big years in CHL.

watched Romanov today in game 1 of the KHL playoffs. I turned it off as he was the 7th D and didn't play at all in the 2nd. I missed the start of the game due to work but it looks like he took a penalty and so they didn't play him in the 2nd. It says he played 1 shift in the 2nd but I didn't see it. CSKA took a quick 2-0 led later in the 2nd, so they played Romanov in the 3rd with a regular shift as he had 7. Overall he played 8:35, 1 hit, 2 pims. He was the only player for CSKA to play under 12:46. they won game 1 4-0.

To be expected that an 18 year old defenceman will see limited time in the playoffs.

    CSKA (4 - 0) Vityaz

    - Alexander Romanov with no points / 1 Hit / 2 PIM / 8:35 TOI

    * This was Romanov's first KHL playoff game, which explains his low usage. He was the 7th D. It makes sense for the coach to lean more on the veterans. Hopefully, Romanov will prove in the playoffs what he did throughout the season, and that is to work his way up the defense corp. He started the year as the 6th or 7th D and became a regular and some nights in the Top-4.
