When I was making the thread I've noticed that the camp is longer. From my recollection training camp was always Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with the B/W game on Sunday. Training this time around starts on Friday and goes throughout the weekend to Monday.

I know its probably not a popular opinion but I have a feeling Timmins makes the team out of camp.

Who does he take a spot from?

I’ll throw out an unpopular opinion. Timmins not at all ready for NHL time. Has a good year in the AHL.

He'd have to beat Nemeth, basically, that's the only guy in our top 6 who could realistically fall to #7. That would mean Bednar carries 8D (Nemeth and Barbie, unless they waive one) which historically he hasn't liked to do. If he ends up the 7D, might as well send him up the road to Loveland to get his playing time.

I agree, but I don't think it will be impossible for him to beat either guy. You are also right that they'll lean towards sending him to the AHL if it's even remotely on the fence.

Nemeth also has a chance of coming into camp just as rusty from recovering from injury.

Certainly not impossible, but just saying that Nemeth is the guy he has to beat, because it won't be Girard or Cole who gets bumped down to 7th for him. This is assuming Barbie is the 7th D on opening night, which I think is a safe guess given his and Nemeth's usage last year.

if Timmins has a strong camp, Barbie gets waived 2 weeks into the season.

You lot are REALLY forgetting about Lindholm. Timmins has the talent to beat Nemeth, Barbario, and Lindholm in the long run, but that will be tough to try and beat all three defenders in one year on the depth chart. But hey, anything is possible I guess...

Placeholder my dear Watson.
Do we have any update on the status of his concussion?
He's already in Denver and practicing with the pros. Mars said he's wearing the #18.
No B&W game this year?
Not sure, maybe I passed the info...but I haven't seen any mention of it yet I don't think.

Haven't seen Timmins play since last preseason but I think they'll call him up over Lindholm, Alt Warsofky or Meloche.

Landeskog - MacKinnon - Rantanen
Kerfoot - Jost - Andrighetto
Calvert - Kamenev - Compher
Nieto - Soderberg - Wilson
Borque
Toninato

Zadorov - Johnson
Cole - Barrie
Girard - Nemeth
Barberio

Varlamov
Grubauer

Not sure how I feel either way about Tims making or being sent down, The A is rough, esp on D and honestly it doesn’t seem like it helps that much for D as opposed to fwds, am I wrong in that op?

I mean if he can skate as well or better than those bottom 3, doesn’t get blown away like a leaf if you breathe on him and keeps his errors to a minimum he should be good to go without all this perceived seasoning

Timmins won't make the team out of camp but I bet he quickly establishes himself as the first call up. I wouldn't at all be surprised to see him on the team full time by the seasons end. Especially if injuries creep up on our defensive depth.

For me the depth chart goes like this:

EJ
Barrie
Z
Girard
Cole
Nemeth
Barbs

Alt
Lindholm
Meloche

Dwarfsofty
Timmins

Graves

There would be about 4 guys ahead of him on the call up list. We have the depth to be able to slow cook Timmins, there's no need to rush him to the show. He still needs polishing and could use a year to bulk up as well.
