Carlyle is not breaking up Kase and Ritchie especially for Aberg.
It's been tried and failed
The second line looks very likely with Aberg going to the 4th line or replacing Cogliano on the 3rd line

If the top line with Aberg and Kase looks as dangerous as they did last night and continues to build chem then I think makes sense to keep it that way because they’ll be able to load the 2nd line with Raks Henrique and Perry and still have a good 4th line with Ritchie and Sprong being able to do damage together, time will tell how it goes down the stretch

If Steel or Lundestrom see some progress in sd, when Rakell is healthy I'd like to see

Ritchie - Getz - Kase
Henrique - Steel/lundestrom - Rakell
Sherwood - Kesler - Silf

I think that 2nd line could be good. 2 former centers could support Steel or Lundestrom and there would be a ton of skill on that line. I've also come to the conclusion that Cogliano is no longer a top 9 winger. Time to be a pk specialist on 4th imo. On the positive I think Sherwood is a very good grinder.
No, people need to stop trying to force Steel and Lundestrom into the lineup. They are not ready for the NHL, they need time in the AHL. We already have a logjam of forwards, just let them build their game in the AHL and let's see what we have next season after we can clear some forward spots over the off season.

Didn't watch the game last night, but wasnt Åberg replaced by Ritchie at some point before the third. After which we saw the Ducks come back and take away the win.

Ya I couldn’t watch after midway through the 2nd either but it looks like it based on Kase’s last 2 goals

They looked flat out dominating once Ritchie replaced Aberg. They already look good when Henrique centers them but with Getzlaf they are on another level

I thought Aberg looked great on that line too from what I saw but yea fair enough. I could see the case for either one

Ritchie and Kase complement each other way too well for them to not be playing together.

Personally, I am of the opinion that Kase and Getzlaf are clearly our 2 best line drivers, and because of that, they shouldn't be playing on the same line.

Rakell-Getzlaf-Perry
Ritchie-Henrique-Kase
Aberg-Rowney-Sprong
Cogs-Kesler-Sherwood

I think we should see something like this if/when Silf is traded and Perry returns.

I feel bad for Cogs. There's just no where to put him and he is put in no situation to succeed playing with Kesler.

Cogs: 8 points, +2 on the year
Kesler: 6 points, -11 on the year

This tells me Kesler is contributing mostly to his poor play. I think Cogs still has some decent hockey left in him

If we're going to entertain for the moment the idea that this team could be a true contender if it all comes together, the glaring need is C. Everyone after Getzlaf is playing a line higher than they ideally would be.

I was pretty disappointed, glancing at the stats, by how not dominating the AHL Steel and Lundestrom are. The only one who is is Terry, who looked the worst while up here.

Yeah It’s starying to look like a 2 or 3C is a real need - I think we are pretty set on the wing now. Kesler is getting worse as the year goes on.

HABS fan here
Proposal: - DUCKS send one of [Larsson/Lindholm/Fowler/Mahura] to MTL

Which one of your LHD is open for a trade to Mtl ? They are all formidable piece Montreal would gladly trade for.

Top 6 winger for one of them ?
Grade A prospect ? like Poehling or Suzuki ?

Would like to know what the Ducks are open to trade.

Those guys all vary massively in value. I don’t think there is much, if anything on the Habs roster that could fetch Lindholm or Fowler. Mahura and Larsson we aren’t looking to move but would be much more obtainable targets although it would still require an overpayment.

Doubt anyone is available to be honest. Depth's pretty much depleted.

Lindholm and Fowler are our only proven top 4 LHD. And for a franchise with an internal budget, the kids are worth their weight in gold.

It's still the first year of professional hockey for Steel and the first year of North American pro hockey for Sir Isac of Lundestrom, so I would expect some struggles as they settle in. I fully expected Terry to be dominating the AHL considering the 3 years of college and the experience in the Olympics, plus overcoming his confidence issues.

This is probably the first time ever but I agree with Dirk here. Ritchie is bigger and more physical which helps with the cycle game. Kase and Getzlaf are lights out cycling together. Very few guys at all are effective cycling because they cant turn a puck along the boards into a scoring chance but those two are great. Then you have Ritchie parking out in front and providing a heavy forecheck for turnovers. Seems like a better fit on that line than aberg if you ask me.

I'd like to see more of the aberg Rico Sprong line. Very interesting and a lot of quickness and skill. I'm not sold either way but I see potential.

I'm talking about a playoff run, which means those guys will have nearly a year of experience in San Diego. They should have made strides by then and may not be at their peak but will probably be good enough to help our team. They can always go back to SD next year for further refining.

My main point is while we have decent depth right now, we are missing a few more scoring threats to go anywhere in the playoffs and our only hope of finding that is being a buyer at deadline or calling up the young guns for the playoffs. I'm not sold on Aberg and Sprong to consider them top 6 wingers when not playing on Getzlafs line.

Which is exactly why I am to bet Jones is the next call up. And seeing what Ritchie is doing adding another fast physical player will really start rounding the lineup with balance

I think the past couple games Kesler is looking much better and faster. He's come close to scoring and hasn't missed a game.
I think he's close to a bounce back but he might need a different line /linemates

The problem is we keep trading for centers and locking them up to huge contracts. There is no money for a 2c unless they are on an elc or bridge

I like the idea of Kase and Rakell on a line away from Getz, if Getz can get offense out of others.

I think Sprong is going to get squeezed out of the lineup unless we commit to 3 scoring lines

Sprong won't get squeezed out any time soon. BM didn't acquire him to not play.

Yes and RC is in a tough spot with that. You have Aberg playing well and Perry will be healthy. Rakell and Kase obviously aren’t sitting and neither are Ritchie and Cogs realistically. Silf Is a wildcard being an impending UfA

RC will be criticized no matter what decision he makes on sprong

There are a lot of players more deserving of playing on a scoring line but Sprong NEEDS to play on a scoring line to succeed
