Good question. I think most star players will be relucant to go regardless of this result.

I'm sorry but this comes off as sour grapes on the part of Puerto Rico.

it's like waiting in line to buy a donut and there's only one of the kind you like left and you're next in line and some ******* buys it for his kid who takes two bites and drops it on the floor.

My favorite part is Yadier Molina arguing it is more honorable to lose and throw a parade than win and go back to your job. A lot of those big names like Trout and Kershaw have their teams investing hundreds of millions of dollars in them and feel it wouldn't be appropriate to spend nearly a month preparing for and playing in the WBC than devoting their time to the team that employs them. There's nothing wrong with that line of thinking.

in a vacuum, it'd be great fun watching usa roll a rotation of kershaw, kluber, bumgarner, syndergaard, sale, etc. while mike trout did what he does.

unfortunately, this tournament isn't made for that. it's great that puerto rico had a run to the final and the stories were great. the tournament is still nothing more than a marketing exercise for mlb.

They're on MLB Network. ESPN only has Spanish language rights.

MLB kept the rights to themselves to help try and grow the network. That's how the TV business works.

False. The TV business works by ratings and exposure. While MLB network did see an uptick in ratings the exposure would have been higher had it been on fs or ESPN.
