Turns out it was the Cubs, according to a PG story today. I just assumed it was the Brewers considering the two franchises hate each other and the Brewers fit the profile of who would have put a claim in. Doing this to spite the Cubs is even more asinine because, despite the fact that I abhor the Cubs and the extreme majority of their fans, it's not a damn rivalry. You need to be good at the same time for more than one season out of 24 in the same division for a rivalry to form...or at least spend years throwing at each other's heads like the Bucs & Brewers did for a while.
