Clearly you don't really understand the true value or lack thereof of Matt Duchene.

No team is giving up a D-man asset comparable to McAvoy or Carlo for a guy who can walk as UFA in two years.

If you get Thornton, you don't put him with 3rd line wingers but with snipers that can score. He was playing on the wing with Pavelski in SJ. No doubt he would be on the top-2 lines either passing to Bergy+Marchand or Pasta.
