Honestly, these guys were not the difference between us winning and losing last year. We are still missing 2 top 2 centers, and a #1 puck moving d-man. This team is poorly built. There's no identity.

Unless some major changes are don't to score more and get some real defense, ie rebuild, them missing a few to a dozen games won't make a difference. Also as mentioned, Weber is now out for 4 months so should be back for camp unless he has a setback.

That will leave some space to some players at training camp.
Weber will be ready for the beginning of the season and Shaw, Byron are not that hard to replace....in fact i'm more pissed about the fact they're not really available for a trade.

Hate to be a turd, but Shaw has no impact on this team whether he's healthy, or injured.. he's an awful hockey player. Byron usually doesn't start to make an impact till January, when we are officially eliminated from the post season.

It's hard not to imagine us not sucking again, if these guys aren't there at the beginning of next season. Byron, Shaw, Weber out 6 months. We don't have the depth in Laval, they finished last in the AHL and they aren't getting any major pieces next year.

Dude we are going to suck no matter what.

LOOK AT THE IDIOT RUNNING THE TEAM.

He has no f***ing idea what he's doing. Not a clue.

It doesn't matter if the presence of any or all of these players would move the needle or not. The only thing that matters is that their absence provides Bergevin with a handy excuse to fail without consequences. Injuries are like "get out of jail free" cards for Bergevin. Weber, Shaw and Byron out of the line-up? That's a lot of attitude to make up for.

"Let's not forget that 3 of our vets and leaders missed part of training camp. It wasn't easy"

Will be an excuse somewhere next year for MB.

I'll pick the positive response with it will give a couple of young players more opportunity to prove themselves.

April 2019. Bergevin des joueurs ont manquer le camp d'entrainements et les blessures qu'on a subi n'etait pas facile encore cette saison......
Pas beaucoup de joueurs sur le marcher des transactions..... bla bla bla

Does it matter? this will be terrible regardless.

Yeah, it's kinda hard to disagree with that.

But what I find more of a concern is how poorly the Habs handle injuries. We never know what's going on : Price, Weber even Subban with his neck injury etc. And sometimes, the player himself will go and ask for a second opinion, as Markov did a few years ago.

And it's not just about communication. It's also about managing the season. If Weber is injured and we're not in the playoffs picture, you put him aside for treatment. You don't let him play on a broken foot for weeks. Which did nothing to help us and just aggravated his injury.

We should have the best medical staff, but I'm really not sure we do. Add to that a GM who is more reactive than proactive and it's just calling for trouble.

No worries, after resigning Patches at $42m over 6 years, we’ll be signing Bozak as our #1C, Oduya for our second pair LHD and trade Galchenyuk with Juulsen, Scherbak and our 2019 first for Vlasic to play with Weber when he comes back.

During this time, our 2018 first, Tkachuk, will be almost ready for prime time.

Do you mean how they handle telling us all the nitty gritty details about the injury or how they handle treating the injury?

As for the second opinions, the players -- especially the star players -- are businesses and it's not uncommon for them to get a second opinion from another renowned specialist. I'm sure we don't always hear about it either. Obviously, when there is a setback in the recovery based on the initial prognostic, it is more likely to surface.
