The difference in Trout's fWAR relative to #2 in the AL (Betts) is 1.6. That's the same as the difference between Betts and the #7 player, Adrian Beltre. And that's considering that fWAR really seems to hate Trout's normally-lauded defensive contributions this year.

wRC+, he's 7% ahead of #2 (David Ortiz) and 14% better than the next closest guy with any sort of MVP case (Donaldson)

by wOBA he's .002 behind David Ortiz, but he's .013 ahead of Donaldson and .020 ahead of anyone else.

by OPS he's 2nd behind Ortiz again, but is .031 clear of anyone else.

He's 1.5x better than anyone else in terms of Win Probability Added. If we normalize that a bit by accounting for the Leverage of the situations he was in, he's still 1.3x clear.

^What would have happened in the above scenario. Anytime there's a runner in scoring position ever and we don't score them there's always a complaint, even if we already scored a bunch. it's like you have to hit a home run, that's the only way you can clear the bases and not have a complaint about leaving someone on. And even then there's complaints about how we don't small ball.

Based loaded nobody out, most people here would have taken 2, but after 2, 2nd/3rd 1 out it's time to get greedy and complaint heavy again
