Just a little note. The fact that Plachta plays in NA doesnt make him superior to a player like Reimer.;)

Hoping for an early Washington PO exit for Grubauer. To me this team looks much more promising than the other recent years both Drai and Reider are effective NHLers. With the right roster I can see this team beating France and Hungary possibly Belarus and potential upset over Slovakia and US depending on their rosters. Always enjoy this tournament it gives me a chance to see players I don't normally get to in North America

I thought that it was just a small injury and that he would have returned to play, had the Bruins advanced to the playoffs?

I could never find any details on his injury, but I wouldn't be surprised if he could have played through a minor injury for the Bruins but prefers not to do so for Germany, and rather rests up and gets healthy for next season. He isn't exactly a spring chicken anymore.

It's a groin injury. There was a statement by Sturm a couple of days ago that it's better for Seidenberg to rest up and get healthy so that he's fit for the Olympic qualifiers in September.

Was at the game in Rosenheim today, Germany played as good as they possible can but Sweden was just better in pretty much every aspect. I know, nothing new but still some kind of an eye opener since I haven't followed international hockey in years.

I wasn't at the game but the news reports read that it was a fairly even game with the difference that the Swedes were much more lethal in front of the goal.

Second game against Sweden was a 3:2 win after shootout.

After the latest additions of Leon Draisaitl and Patrick Reimer and the cuts of Daniel Pietta, Mirko Höfflin, Jonas Müller and Martin Buchwieser this is what the roster looks like at the moment:

1 JENIKE, Andreas (Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers)
35 NIEDERBERGER, Mathias (Düsseldorfer EG)
51 PIELMEIER, Timo (ERC Ingolstadt)

2 REUL, Denis (Adler Mannheim)
5 BRÃœCKNER, Benedikt (Wild Wings Schwenningen)
34 KOHL, Benedikt (ERC Ingolstadt)
67 EBNER, Bernhard (Düsseldorfer EG)
77 GOC, Nicolai (Adler Mannheim)
81 ANKERT, Torsten (Kölner Haie)
82 AKDAG, Sinan (Adler Mannheim)
85 BRANDT, Marcel (Düsseldorfer EG)
90 BRAUN, Constantin (Eisbären Berlin)
91 MÜLLER, Moritz (Kölner Haie)

8 RIEDER, Tobias (Arizona Coyotes)
9 FLAAKE, Jerome (Hamburg Freezers)
12 MACEK, Brooks (Iserlohn Roosters)
17 KINK, Marcus (Adler Mannheim)
19 DANNER, Simon (Wild Wings Schwenningen)
21 KRÄMMER, Nicolas (Hamburg Freezers)
29 DRAISAITL, Leon (Edmonton Oilers)
37 REIMER, Patrick (Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers)
47 ULLMANN, Christoph (Adler Mannheim)
50 HAGER, Patrick (Kölner Haie)
55 SCHÜTZ, Felix (Rögle BK)
57 GOC, Marcel (Adler Mannheim)
83 PFÖDERL, Leonhard (Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers)
87 GOGULLA, Philip (Kölner Haie)
92 NOEBELS, Marcel (Eisbären Berlin)

Here are some players that could potentially be added after the DEL-finals:

Goalie:
AUS DEN BIRKEN, Danny (EHC Red Bull München)
BRÃœCKMANN, Felix (Grizzly Addams Wolfsburg)

Defensemen:
BOYLE, Daryl (EHC Red Bull München)
KETTEMER, Florian (EHC Red Bull München)

Forwards:
FURCHNER, Sebastian (Grizzly Addams Wolfsburg)
KAHUN, Dominik (EHC Red Bull München)
PFOHL, Fabio (Grizzly Addams Wolfsburg)
SEIDENBERG, Yannick (EHC Red Bull München)

I think Furchner, Kahun and Brückmann are the most likely candidates.

Agree with Kahun and Brückmann.

Abeltshauser is injured and M.Wolf retired from the national team in 2015.

Thanks for the information. I edited my post above.
I knew I was likely putting somebody on the list who was no longer available, but I also didn't want to miss anyone.

I think Furchner is hurt as well, though not necessarily injured, but who knows if he will want to keep playing after the finals.

There is also the possibility of David Wolf returning to the roster. He was already with the team early on, but then got injured and was supposed to miss three weeks. Sturm said that he hopes that Wolf will return for the later stages of the preliminary games.

For Germany's level, there really seem to be quite a few offensive options available this time around. We really need some good defensemen for the future though, as that area is still severely lacking, especially when we miss two or three.
