lol at the hart voting, 3 wash players in the top 15 what a joke.

What a 1st year for Auston Matthews though

Calder winner
5th in All-Star Centre voting
11th in Hart
6th in Lady Byng

Yeah that was an amazing season for him. And to be honest, I think he could have been higher in both Hart and All-Star voting and it would have been legit.

Ovechkin still 12th in Hart Voting despite the worst season of his career.

Solely from a single 2nd vote...

He was maybe 5th most valuable in his own team.

That also means that there is a voter who thinks OV was more valuable than Crosby or McDavid this season. Similarly as there is a voter who thinks Suter was more valuable than Crosby or McDavid this season.

I figured Babcock would win this one. It seemed Torts was the early favorite and maybe even T-Mac over Babcock early on too, back when the Leafs weren't really in a playoff spot early in the season. I figured when they got in, Babcock might very well get it.

I'm relieved to see that **** bag novice John Hynes didn't get another vote from Shero this year, like he did last year. I almost expected to see him get at least one vote from Shero.

Claude Julien getting multiples votes is kind of bush league to me. He didn't even coach Montreal for half the season and they were already in a playoff spot when he took over.

Gaudreau winning is a joke.

I can't help but think of how he got penalized for diving as well as an attempted slewfoot on Draisaitl.

I was surprised Babcock didn't win. Him or McLellan. I thought Torts was the least deserving of the three largely because his team, coming into the season, was supposed to compete for a playoff spot. The other two teams weren't.

Nice to see Spurgeon get some recognition, even if it was from just a couple of voters.

I didn't think any of those three teams were expecting to compete for a playoff spot before the season started, it was before 15-16 (and 14-15) that the Blue Jackets seemed to be very overrated and a couple people were predicting them to make the finals one of those years before the season. I remember thinking the Oilers had the best chance out of those 3 teams before the season started, just because I felt they were due finally. I also figured a full year of McDavid would do wonders, even though I didn't think he'd quite score 100 points this season.

I'm fine with Torts getting it though, as he was the consensus pick for most of the season. That was before the Leafs were in a playoff spot. It seemed they were out of the playoffs (but in striking range) for a better part of the season.

Weber finished 6th in norris voting, but according to many here he's on decline and had a mediocre season

I thought Babcock should have won because he still took the Leafs from last place overall in 2015-2016 to the playoffs in 206-2017. Plus considering he never won the award I thought the voters might have thought it's time he did and because Tortorella previously won it in 2004. Finally I believe Columbus ended the season something like 2-10 and considering they finished 3rd in the Metropolitan after winning 16 games in a row, you think would have finished 1st or 2nd and got home ice advantage in the playoffs for the first round.

If Matthews wasn't a rookie I wonder if he might have had more votes to win or be a finalist for the Lady Byng? Besides his stats he also had a total of 14 penalty minutes.

I think that there's some truth to that, I think even finishing as high as he does as a 19-year-old rookie speaks volumes to his character, and that people across the league are noticing that he's a great guy at such a young age. He's certainly making a reputation for himself, as a good guy.

Oshie getting 2 first place votes for the Selke might be the weirdest voting result I've ever seen. You always get the random "I'm an idiot and am going to put a crazy ballot in", but 2 1st place votes defies logic. If it was just about +/- they would have gone with Zucker. If they were Caps homers they would have gone with Backstrom.

The writers who voted for Marchand and Atkinson at center should have their voting privileges revoked immediately. People who don't even know what position players play really have no business voting on any awards/all-star selections.

I have a guess as to who voted for Marchand as a center and Krug for Norris....

The kicker...he's the chair of the Boston PHWA. The funny thing is, he didn't vote that way, but because everyone thought he did, he quicky disavowed the votes on Twitter.

Meh

The voting means nothing to me. Especially when you see who gets votes for all these awards. Frickin John Hynes got a Jack Adams vote last year (from Shero, no doubt),

I'm not surprised that he finished 6 in Norris voting though, he did score 42 points and the Norris has been more geared towards the defenseman that scores the most points.

Claude Julien getting 3 or 4 votes for the Jack Adams was weird. He coached for less than half the season in Montreal and took over a team that was still in a playoff spot, if I'm not mistaken. He's no doubt an upgrade over Therrien, but I was surprised he got those votes. Unless the people giving those votes felt like Montreal would have finished outside of the playoffs if that change wasn't made.

Matthews, Scheifele and Backstrom as better centers than Malkin. Who the *** voted on this? Finally I am starting to understand how he didn't get to top 100

I don't think any of these guys are better players than Malkin though. At least not as of right now.

Recognizing my Oilers bias - and I'm not trying to be a homer - but I am genuinely shocked at Gaudreau winning Lady Byng. I know he technically had lower PIMs than the other guys, but he was fined for diving. Was genuinely surprised there, but who cares.

They need to start showing who voted for who...would make people think twice making these questionable choices.
