Odd rankings later in the draft. Not sure about a guy like Kaprizov ahead of Roslovic, Dermott, Cernac.

"Vince Dunn is better than every defenseman ahead of him except for Chabot, Hanifan, Provorov, Werenski, and Carlo"

There, I fixed it for you.
Geez, I could at least see Provorov and Werenski.

Hanifin and Carlo just exist.

not sure what people's infatuation with Hanifin is. It's clear Chabot is the top D in the class, with Werenski & Provorov making cases from time to time. After that I'd choose Dunn/Carlo over Hanifin without a second thought. Hanifin does a lot of little things well, but his impact in a lot of games is near non-existent. Some of that can be attributed to playing with Hamonic regularly but you gotta worry when we see Andersson overtake him in Calgary's depth charts & Kylington not far behind if there wasn't a logjam on D to begin within in Calgary.

It shows the player who they would have taken at the spot and the team that actually drafted them. Montreal took Juulsen in the 1st, so he wouldn't be drafted in the 1st round if there was a redraft today.

Hintz was a solid pick for the Stars, but I get the feeling Gurianov might sneak onto this list if this is redone a year from now. We'll see because it will be redone and overdone again and again right? Right.

Ericsson-Ek needs to be that list before a guy like Sprong, at the very least. He might not ever score a ton of points, but he is a superb defensive C.

Barzal is a much, much better player than Aho. I don't even think it's close, Barzal has a ceiling as a top 5 player in this league, Aho's ceiling is nowhere near that.

I agree he’s better as an overall player then AHO but I do not think he has a top 5 ceiling. I think he has potentially a top 5 center ceiling. Just my opinion.

Do you even know who Nutivaara is?

I hear ya, some leaf fans and dermott man. He isn’t THAT amazing. I watched hockey central every morning last year off work and my god, dermott was talked about like he was doughty at times.

dear god how did jack stay #2

What?

I kind of think you’re the only one laughing here...maybe people on these forums ya know, pay attention to what’s going on? Thus voted him second best?

But for kicks let’s break this down...

Marner....no, I mean it’s not a huge gap but he’s (Eichel) just a more complete player then Mitchell. I mean the kid didn’t even play in his draft year. He got another year to develop in the OHL and was placed onto a solid team from the jump with two other tremendous rookies (a solid team in their first year together anyway) with a new top starting goalie, and a good core base. That’s a good environment to be in learning the ropes Babcock aside, meanwhile Eichel gets put in the NHL straight out of the draft on a bottom feeder and still does very well for himself. Nothing like his production the next three seasons where he didn’t produce less then 0.95 PPG - a season from that point on. Marner has had solid totals and he’s turned into a real star but the fact he makes almost a million more then Eichel, yet many leaf fans joked about eichels contract. I remember that gif/meme of Eichel breaking his sick on the way to the dressing room after a moss and a leaf fan out in quotations “only 8 more years of him sabres fans”....yeah, the terror of having Eichel locked up 8 years. Anyway Marner’s team only scores like 70 more goals a year on the reg, and gets to play with players like Reilly and Tavares literally all The time. (Notice the insane spike in matters prosuction once JT arrived compared to JT who pretty much got the same amount of points whether he was with Anders Lee or Mitchell) ....Not to mention Marner getting easier match ups due to The fact some of the best shutdown guys play against the Matthews line. Meanwhile Eichel plays against every top player.

Rantanen- the best of the bunch...but I always loved the argument in the Rantanen Eichel polls. I always suggested okay “so Mackinnon is better then Eichel right?” Now Rantanen is too. So tell me since they are both better and have each other and a damn good linemate in landeskog. (who also happens to be better then any of eichels linemates) then imagine if Eichel had another Eichel on his line? Or even someone close to an Eichel? Because that’s what you’re suggesting Rantanen and Mackinnon both have, since they’re better then Eichel. So both of them have a better player then Eichel and another linemate better then any of eichels. Do you see? Eichel has double the points his his own linemates do. Rantanen is probably a top ten winger for sure and has top 5 potential on the wing but I mean he’s just not better then a franchise/elite number one center.

AHO, don’t even have to say anything really, A-No. but he’s still damn good.

without the career threatning injury I take Juulsen before all of these payers easily

he was a really good top 4 for the habs before that injury, it's the only thing that should drop him in the redraft

Werenski over Provorov is ridiculous.

Sorry but no. Provorov needs to learn to play NHL level defense before he can be above Werenski.

As for the list: McDavid all alone I agree with.

Marner
Barzal
Aho
Rantanen
Eichel

2nd group is a tier, not a list. Year to year it'll fluctuate within, but those 5 are a clearer cut above the rest.

I like how Rantanen (arguably better than all 4 of those dudes you named) is not even in tier 2. But regardless. I think you put Jack by himself because he’s such a game breaker. Mikko is the best of Tier 3.

If this is how Eichel's going to play the rest of his career, then he's all by himself in the second tier. Nobody picks anyone before Eichel except for McDavid.

Andersson didn't overtake him and Kylington is not f***ing close. You have a point about hanifin but don't have to lie to make a point.

Whoops. I was hungover when I posted and he slipped. He should be in that group. I don't think Eichel is really any better than those guys.

So, you want to project the next 10ish years based only the select data that supports your opinion?

This man does not Science.
