I'd like to see Eichel play a full season with actual talent (hell even just a full season) and Barzal without Tavares there to take the match ups away from him.

Not saying Barzal isn't a superstar talent, he is, I just think it's laughable he'd go over Eichel. It's still early to call it. Another couple seasons and Rantanan or Boeser could overtake Barzal IMO.

While I agree it's too early to 'call', Barzal is certainly in the lead right now for anyone who can shed draft bias.

I'd probably grab Aho at 4 and Rantanen at 5, but any two of:

Marner

Provorov
Werenski

Could realistically be there as of now, and guys like

Boeser
Connor
Hanifin
Chabot
Strome

Could end up in the top 5 when it's all said and done. That's the crazy thing about this draft, there are still a handful of guys with slower development curves that could still end up elite players. Even guys like Meier could develop to that point.

Not really, most people have marner in the 4-6 range so I'd say he was taken about right. Now if you had said strome you'd be correct

if Barzal repeats the season he had without the sheltering, He makes the case for 2nd. Right now i put him 3rd with in no particular order Provorov, Marner, Werenski as the next tier.
