Ha I could have sworn he was under contract for whatever reason.

Welp, move Pitlick or Slepy up into his spot for what I guessed above and add Currie to the top 9.

Sallinen, Platzer, Chase, and Moroz + Allen, Benik and Russel(the last three likely Norfolk bound) round out the depth chart.

This team sort of strikes me as the Blue Jackets of the AHL. Good size, but there's not a lot of drivers there. Pulju and Slepyshev are really the only forwards I'd trust to consistently control the puck. It's the same with the back end and Fraser, Nurse, Reinhart, Musil, Simpson, and Laleggia.

Though this is likely deliberate to give the younger guys a chance to QB the play after spending a year or two behind Hunt and Nikitin.

Laleggia is a disaster. One of the last MacT signings. Ford is a BIG loss as he was THE only one to go to the net. I hope we get McRae back as he was a good vet to have around.

So Ford joins Todd Nelson in Grand Rapids. Interesting

Laleggia is a guy without much margin for error. Though you've got to think he's in a better spot going into this season vs. last.

A 5 foot nothing rookie offensive defenceman stuck behind 2 vet options is more often going to look exposed vs. good. Right now he's got a big defence around him, and the "go to offencive defenceman" role is open with Hunt (plus Nikitin and Oesterle) leaving, not to mention a year of pro experience under his belt.

Right now I'm thinking the defence will be

Fraser-Nurse
Reinhart-Simpson
Musil-Laleggia

So Laleggia's going to get a sheltered third pairing role, while being the PP specialist too. If he can't run with that, then it wouldn't surprise me to see him get the Philip Larsen treatment and transitioned to forward where his size wouldn't be such a liability.

Nothing more than a depth guy, but holy crap! a RH defenceman!

I could not find anything on this guy. Not a single fight or highlight reel with him in it worthwhile. For a guy who played just a few ECHL games and all AHL you would think that there would be something there. Well....he is better than what we had..at least on paper. Like edmonton we still need a PPQ

Pretty sure Laleggia will fill that role this year for you guys.

So does Bogdan Yakimov being loaned to KHL means he will not play at all in the AHL?

Most likely unless he comes back after the season like he did last year. Not as high on him as I once was, he really needs to work on the flaws in his game is he ever wants a chance at being an NHLer. Maybe a few years in the KHL will help him grow his game, who knows.

Think that they'll sigh anymore free agents out of Oiler camp? Any word on invites to rookie camp?

Alexandre Fortin and Brandon Biro are the only two I've heard so far.

Fortin isn't eligible for the AHL and Biro is 18 and going the NCAA route, so it's unlikely he ends up on the Condors.

Caleb Jones is elligible play in Bako if Edmonton wants him too

Very unlikely with the log jam in the organization at LD. He'll be back in Portland for the year where he should be their go to guy, hopefully get a big role on the American u20 team too, then be headed to Bakersfield for the 17/18 season:

Leave him in Portland, hopefully he can grow his offensive game some more down there.

Rumors out there that the Condors are going to sign Jaedon Descheneau. Missed almost all of last year with a shoulder injury, but could be a very good signing IMO. He'd be the Winquist replacement, might have more potential too.

worth a gamble. It also in my opinion shows the oiler brass, while getting realize having one or two small guys around wont hurt
