Brossoit stopped 31 shots and Miller got the only goal in a 1-0 win.

Bakersfield outshot Grand Rapids 40-31.

Lots of great scoring chances for the Condors. Both goalies were great tonight. Glad to see Bako get the W in their first AHL game!

Good read

Hoping the city embraces them. They got a good product with Nurse, LD, Brossoit, Laleggia, Yakimov etc and some solid prospects

Pretty nice place to play too

The city will embrace them, 5,100 fans tonight while competing with mlb playoffs and hs football. Likely a bigger crowd tomorrow.

It's a great team and a much improved product compared to the ECHL. The players should like it here, they can golf all winter long!

Losing 5-0 near end of 2nd. Not LB's fault. Look like a completely different team from last night.

Condors getting kicked 5-0 through nearly two periods. Ontario is really exposing Bakersfield with a heavy forecheck and is really taking it to them. Bako is having fits even getting out of their own zone. Ontario is doing exactly what will probably be nearly the only way to beat Bakersfield this season, which is eliminate their skill by dominating the physical game. Hunt/Oesterle are showing why they have their struggles at the next level in their cups of coffee in the NHL, which is getting rattled and shying away from a very physical game and making silly turnovers because they are Hearing footsteps.

Also of note is that it didn't take long for the human Band-Aid Tyler Pitlick to suffer an injury of some sort, severity is unknown. He is no longer on the Condor bench starting the 3rd period and didn't take a shift for atleast the last half of the 2nd period. Can't remember a certain play that stands out in which anything stood out, but as we have all learned in Pitlick's short pro career it sadly doesn't take much to get him sidelined as the guy seems to have terrible luck in staying healthy.

Thanks alot for the update Baronsfan, nice to see you follow them over. Talk about getting schooled. Pitlick.. what is there to say at this point? There are advanced seniors with seemingly less fragile, more sturdy frames than this guy.

Good summary. Lots of bad decision-making under pressure. Many bad passes in front of the net in the defensive zone and turnovers in the slot. This one isn't on LB, Ontario was gifted a lot of grade A scoring chances. Draisaitl was mostly invisible and Nurse showed no intensity, save a fight at the very end of the game. The Reign looked very good, blocking lots of shots and getting sticks in the passing lanes. The whole game was played in Bakersfield's end. It's early, but 1 goal in two games makes me a bit nervous. Hopefully just a fluke against a good team, but the choices made by the Condors in their own end were awful all night long.

I don't know much about the AHL but isn't Reign one of the best teams in the league?

Yep, defending champs who return 15 players from last season. They aren't as skilled as Bakersfield but they play a lot like their parent club in LA, physical and seem to smother the other team with their forecheck.

I was at the arena for both games. The first game Pitlick was a major factor. His forechecking was great. As for Saturday, the team was obviously very tired. LB let in 3 soft goals of his own. Pageau caused more damage. Friday we were a very physical team. Saturday we were the opposite.

It was Ontarios first game. Grans rapids played their second game Saturday against San Diego who was playing their first and they lost 4 to2.

Stockton played its first game Saturday against Rockford that played Friday night against SJ. Rockford won Friday 4-2 but got destroyed Saturday 7-0.

In short ALL western teams that won Friday ALL lost on Saturday. I think it is more of a tired team versus a rested one. The real truth will be how they respond on Friday night in San Diego after a bad loss.

Currently 5-5 vs the Ikinzom Gulls

Noticed that Pakarinen has a goal + assist....this could be a good time to bring him up...really like what he showed last year.

Pak up and Slepy down? (or better Purcell out)

drai with 1 assist through 3 games.... he really needs to turn it around.... he's 20, so the 1 PPG rule is in effect if we expect him to be an offensive NHLer
The whole team, like us has had trouble scoring.

He is playing well just the goals aren't coming.

Watched a bit of the Condors-Gulls game (don't - the broadcast is below NHL preseason quality). I think it would be good for him to stay the year in the AHL. A couple of nice plays and then a giveaway because he can't turn or accelerate quick enough.

He's not wrong though. None of those players are offensive NHL superstars (none hit NHL PPG). I wouldn't mind a Mikko Koviu or RyJo. If he fails to hit AHL PPG then 1B/2C upside is more reasonable than Joe Thornton. If he dominates the sky is the limit.

Does anyone expect him to = Thornton? Jumbo will be a HHOFer, that's a lot to ask of Leon.
