He still looked dangerous to me whenever he had the puck and was great behind the net but he was almost exclusively trying to set people up. Not sure if he was told to do that or he feels held back from going for it offensively for some reason.

Still can't believe he won the Calder over Duchene and Tavares. Just goes to show that personal trophies don't always equate out to success.

tavares actually finished 5th. the hype was so ridiculous on him so it created ridiculous expectations. he and duchene had pretty damn similar seasons.

I noticed this as well, I think being the rookie and youngest player got in his head a bit, because time after time, he was passing off good shots in favor of dishing the puck to his teammates. I remember throughout the tournament, me yelling at the TV a few times for him to shoot instead of passing it.

When you come into the league and produce like he did you have to keep it up. Dude keeps declining though.

This is also true. But he was never as good as his rookie numbers led everyone to believe. I think last year is going to be a fairly solid indicator of where he will spend most of his career.
