There's a lot of teams overpaying at this position. Doesn't necessarily prove anything but interesting it is that Anaheim and Tampa lead their respective conferences in points and are in the bottom 5 in payroll at the goaltender position.Wow, I didn't realize how much Scrivens makes! $2.3M? What the hell, Edmonton. They did this with Dubnyk too. He was making 3.5M there.
25. Next week’s board of governors meeting could clear up some of the Coyotes’ roster future. Once Andrew Barroway is approved as owner, GM Don Maloney should have a better idea of what he can do with Antoine Vermette, for example.
Even with an expanded budget, I don't want to pay Vermette market value.
I think MacT is panicky enough to sell low, but I doubt he'll do it with Hall.
Based solely on his performance Monday night, MacT can keep Taylor Hall.

Granted he looked terrible last night (turnovers galore), but I don't think we're in a position to flatly reject a young, 80-point forward. I'm sure Tipp & Co. can beat the Edmonton out of him as they have (as they are) with Gagner.

I'd much rather extend Vermette at the 6M/year Eberle is currently making than give Eberle that money to be a 1D floater here. And I've been pretty vocal about trading Vermette ASAP lol and absolutely not giving him 5m+ lol.

I think Eberle is being too harshly criticized here. Ference is the loser. Guy does nothing but make stupid decisions on the ice that hurt his team. Eberle is supposed to be a sneaky goal scorer. He does what he does pretty well, I think. It's not up to him to be the heart the soul or the defensive conscience of that Oilers squad.
I think it depends on who is available. According to Dreger, the Oil want a 2C and a goalie for Eberle. We could send them Vermette, but we don't have the second piece to send them as Smith doesn't want Edmonton and Edmonton doesn't want Dubnyk.
So then it's a question of who else is available. We know Perron is out there. Have the Oilers reached the point where Hall is available?
I also have to wonder about the comment "We have to know what we have with Brandon Gormley." Both Tippett and Maloney have said this. Does it mean "he's ready for the NHL so let's see what we've got" or does it mean "is Gormley at or reaching the point where it makes Yandle expendable?"
