Seems like Edmonton is ripe for the pickin' I wonder who will take advantage of em'. If they are offering up Perron, than I am guessing that they are not taking offers for the Big 3.

Just shooting from the hip here but how about:

Perron and Marincin for Methot and one of Pageau or Smith

I wonder if they would trade Smith for Edmonton's second which could be the equivalent to a late first.

Smith hasn't progressed at all, doesn't provide any offense, and rarely plays physical anymore. In my opinion he's easily replaceable.

I think the team will ultimately trade Wiercioch when Methot is healthy, but after that, I wouldn't mind staying status quo until the deadline.

At which point Ottawa completes the following trades:

To ARZ:
Michalek
Prince

To OTT:
Vermette

to CBJ:
Dallas 2nd
Pageau

To OTT:
Foligno

Our line up for the stretch:

MacArthur-Turris-Ryan
Foligno-Vermette-Chiasson
Hoffman-Lazar-Stone
Zibanejad-Legwand-Neil

Methot-Karlsson
Cowen-Ceci
Gryba/Boro/Phillips

Foligno is tearing it up with Johansen. Doubt they'd move him.

There's going to have to be a blockbuster trade by the Caps one of these years. I would love to get one of Backstrom, Johansson, Brouwer, Carlson or Alzner

Probably not right now, but he won't maintain his pace.

Also, he's a UFA at the end of the season. Unless CBJ go on a tear, they will definitely be on the outside looking in.

I'd LOVE to get Vermette back... getting rid of Michalek too!?!? GTFO.

Although I'd attempt a blockbuster trade for a better LW than Foligno. We need top end talent. Not complementary top 6 forwards.

Vermette would be perfect center as stop gap until Zibanejad ready.

4 of his 5 goals on the PP, Vermy would take some stress off the top unit to always have to produce and give us a solid 2nd/3rd line threat.

I can only dream that the Sens roster doesn't have Michalek on it. What a terrible signing. 4 million for a guy that will score less than 10 goals this season. Don't believe me? Watch and see.

Vermette would be incredible on our team.

Turris
Vermette
Zibanejad
Lazar

is super c group. No real stand out but 4 guys who can play 2nd line C position very well. Whoever got the weak matchup could end up making huge noise all game.

If we add elite winger group to that depth down the middle, we'll be a solid threat.

Ryan
(One more star winger)
Hoffman
MacArthur
Stone/Chiasson/Prince/Puempel

We got our Vermette in the off season but unfortunately they spelled it Legwand.
Sens will not be going out to get another center.

Turris
Zib
Smith
Lazar
Legwand
Pageau

That is a disgustingly deep fwd group. I think we'd be able to retain at least one of those two UFAs, probably Vermette quite easily. Give him the exact same contract we gave Michalek.

putting vermette at wing or maybe zib at wing actually solves it, since if we are getting a forward one of michalek/smith are getting traded, most likely smith since we just resigned michalek and the fact that smith doesnt look good as a winger

Another thing of note.

Neither Foligno or Vermette wanted to leave Ottawa.

I also know they spend some time here in the off-season as well.

Vermette would be a great acquisition, provided he's brought in to play LW. We have too many quality centers as it is. His speed would make him a great fit beside Zibby and Ryan on the 2nd line:

MacArthur - Turris - Stone
Vermette - Zibanejad - Ryan
Hoffman - Lazar - Chiasson
Smith - Legwand - Neil

Damn that's a deep forward group.
