i cant wait till a full season in the NHL for both Miller and McIlrath.. i wish McIlrath would have gotten a game in the playoffs.. couldnt be worse than Hamrlik.

He couldn't be worse then Bickel, and he played decent minutes for this club not too long ago.

I don't understand the hesitation to give young players a real chance to play. Not as if every other team in the league does it...oh wait, they do.

What are the alternatives? Watching slow elephants like Clowe and Pyatt get pinned in our end? I like them both, but come on. We won't see skill infusion by being chicken **** to play our more talented young guys.

In this upcoming season I want to see Kreider and Miller get bigger roles, and Fast(h), Lindberg, and McIlrath get a shot. What is the plan, otherwise?

Bickel was playing to a point that he was a liability every single time he was out on the ice. Mcilrath is prone to getting beat on the outside, but that's really my only gripe with him. I'd expect he gets his cup of coffee this upcoming season.

Bailey and the kid ODC was pimping up on the last page really interest me.

Say it with me, Americans with our 3rd rounders, gamble with Euros in the late rounds.

By the way, it is almost certain we're taking a goalie this year, just a hunch

General Manager Don Maloney, Assistant G.M. Brad Treliving, and Director of Amateur Scouting Rick Knickle led the Phoenix contingent as it gathered valuable data leading up to the 2013 NHL Entry Draft on June 30 in Newark, N.J.

“We spent the first four days meeting with players and then they had two days of physical testing,” Treliving explained. “It was a good week. We gained valuable information on a lot of the prospects.”

Treliving said the Coyotes interviewed an average of 25 prospects per day – with the interviews lasting between 10-15 minutes.

“In many cases we were able to gain a sense of their personalities and what type of people they are,” Treliving said. “But in some cases the benefit was simply putting a face to a name.”

Thus, the Coyotes interviewed around a hundred prospects. I remember reading a post on this site saying one of the only ways of finding out which teams are interviewing which prospects is to follow the players themselves on twitter.

You are taking the bait. I think this is all talk, like most years, to garner attention and interest.

Jones had a similar draft year to Doughty, and he can take over with the puck on his stick.

I don't think Jones is anything like Erik Johnson, who I said was overrated back when he was drafted.

Plus the whole "some scouts have him lower" thing doesn't mean much if the Avs are in love with him at #1. I still think he's the best player in the draft. Size, skating, mobility, puck moving, can play all situations. Should be an absolute stud.

All these teams won Cups or went to the finals, not just because they took all those Centers, but because they took the player they thought was the BPA, regardless of position. Ottawa stocked up on Centers, traded Yashin who many thought was their best Center for a guy named Chara, how did that work out? I remember many people saying the Pens were stupid for drafting Jordy Staal, well that worked out well.

BPA, almost always, it's rare a occasion when I would pick for need.

BBKers, That first MDZ for #7 and MPS has been my wet dream for ages. MPS would add some nice speed in the bottom half of the ine-up. I dream of a line of Kreider-MPS and a stud like Nichuschkin. MPS is the forgotten man with all the first overall BLING on the Oilers. Nows the time to get him, before he blossoms.

Niklas Hansson-Swedish offensive D -

from REDLINE REPORT - Hansson came out of nowhere and developed into one of the best finesse, offensive defensemen over the second half of the season. At a slightly built 6-0, 173 pounds, he lacks strength, but his puckhandling confidence and development curves appear to be headed straight upward. He shows great vision and patience handling the puck, always skating with his head up looking to make plays, and usually makes very good decisions in puck movement. He has the speed to take the puck end-to-end, and is also terrific quarterbacking the power play.


I've been reading some good things about Hanson. We need a PP quarterback. Would be a great pick in the 3rd or 4th if he lasts that long.

Also thinking Phoienix is a definite candidate to trade up especially if they can get a shot at Sean Monohan.

Yep, what a great trade for the Sens, set them up for the next decade. That's why I never stop letting Sather have it for past drafts, they still affect the team today.

I was never a Tukonen fan, guy had bust written all over him and some wanted him for the #6 pick where we took Montoya.

Olver had Sather ties, played for Glen's buddy Walt Kyle in College, I knew that pick was too high, forget that he was a huge project. Byers was already getting injured and had family injury history, didn't like him. Bruce Graham, huge guy, huge project. Bahensky had some size, didn't know what to do when the puck was on his stick, low IQ. Billy Ryan, huge project, never progressed into a pro frame or game. Callahan was a smallish player thought of as a scrappy scorer. Dubinsky was the one name we had talked up alot thanks to Edge, he championed Dubie for awhile, before anyone thought about him as a viable 2nd round option.
