God I am so glad Tyler Wright is no longer involved with this team

I wonder who would have been the defenceman Håkan would have been interested at 16th - 20th picks ?

If these options were both North-American, he maybe had no clue.

Funny how Wings still picked for most sure - Håkan-favoured - Filip Hronek at 2nd round.

Even if Cholowski busted, getting extra pick and Hronek thanks to that, makes this trade STILL even.

Career average IT from 2016 draft:
1. McAvoy - 23:17
2. Hronek - 22:27
3. Fox - 22:24
4. Chychrun - 20:50
5. Girard - 20:31
6. Peeke - 19:36
7. Sergachev - 19:23
8. Fabbro - 18:54

Career points per game:
1. Fox - 0,80
2. McAvoy - 0.57
3. Hronek - 0.482
4. Sergachev - 0.481
5. Girard - 0.424
6. Chychrun - 0.421
7. Bean - 0.33
8. Fabbro - 0.28

2016 Draft defencemen order
#5 - Olli Juolevi (busted)
#9 - Mikhail Sergachev
#13 - Jake Bean
#14 - Charlie McAvoy (best of the class with Adam Fox)
#16 - Jacob Chychrun
#17 - Dante Fabbro
#18 - Logan Stanley
#20 - Dennis Cholowski (busted)
#28 - Lucas Johansen (busted)
----------------------
#53 - Filip Hronek
#66 - Adam Fox

It was not easy draft for anyone, if you look how the guys went, and what order.

Also it's freaking hilarious, there was only 2 legit European defenceman at this draft, mostly it's all North American -heavy.

And how come, Håkan Andersson picked the best and only European one at #53, after Sergachev had gone #9, which Wings had no chance. And Yzerman later traded for this guy.

I would venture that he might have picked Hronek at Cholowski's spot, leaving Bratt, Dubé, Colton to be picked with Hronek's pick. Hindsight is 20/20, though.

I didn't hate this pick on draft day because I hadn't seen him play yet, and there was nothing in his scouting report that alarmed me. But once I saw him play as a pro and realized he couldn't defend worth a damn, I soured pretty quick.

I liked what the "expert" writers said about his hockey iq at the time.

I have stopped reading what these so called experts are writing now.

This is a joke, right? Chychrun is way better than Hronek. Ice time and ppg are the two most cherry picked stats you could have chosen.

I hated this pick from the get-go. Granted, I wanted Brett Howden at that spot due to our lack of centers. He still would have been a better pick than Cholowski.
Certainly a better hockey name. One reason to bump this post is to show that the cell phone kiosk rule works.

Also, the best player available at the Wings pick was Adam Fox. Apparently porn star names are even better than hockey names. (At least it sounds like a porn star name to me, common first name coupled with the name of an animal.)
