You know that Oshawa's biggest strength is their speed, right? Noel, Salinitri, Neumann, Saigeon are all top 10-15 skaters in the OHL.....
I'd like to think we have a pretty mobile backend in PBO (Merkley, Chisholm, Fraser, Spearing etc) and they were no match for the Gens speed. The Petes only chance was when they completely backed up and forced them to dump it in to take the speed away.
I think Niagara will win this series because the the D zone is the Gens undoing and NIA has the best F group in the league, but to say speed is the Gens weakness just means you dont follow the OHL at all lol.
Individual skating talent doesn't always translate to an up tempo style of play. They are average at best with breakouts and struggle to convert neutral zone turnovers into scoring chances. The difference in Brandon Saigeon's game since coming to Oshawa is striking. He would force turnovers and lead the rush in Hamilton, but he's tried to adapt to a more restricted style and not found much success 5 on 5.
To call Serron Noel a top 10 skater is absurd in my opinion. He's done really good work to bring his skating up to almost average from the mess he was in his rookie season, but that's still the biggest concern with regards to his pro potential.
