The important thing to keep in mind with Aarne Talvitie is he's a character kid, very smart and competitive. Though he needs a year or two at the AHL level, I would not rule out a future bottom 6 role with the Devils.
That was a very interesting read, thank you.Not sure if there is anything more recent, but here is a paper from 2014 looking at ACL injuries in NHL players. Granted these are pros who probably have access to better PT and training than a college player does.
Performance and Return to Sport After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction in National Hockey League Players
Not to get off topic but that season by Malkin into the IIHF world's was so fun to watch lol. That was a very interesting read, thank you.
I found that Malkin had torn ACL end his season in 2011 and he came back with a monster 50g-109pts campaign. I'm not saying any of it is comparable and every situation and player is different, I just have high hopes for the kid. Fell in love with his unforgiveness at Worlds and been a big fan since.

Is torn ACL one of those injuries that can take years to fully heal or get close to what it was before? Any examples of NHLers getting back to form couple years after said injury?
That always seems to be the case with big injuries, players come back when they are told they can, the next year return to form and say I felt like shit last year.I remember a quote from Michal Handzus about his ACL recovery. He was traded to Chicago and tore his ACL early into the 2006-07 season. He signed a 4 year deal as a free with Los Angeles and struggled immensely in his first season. Fans made him a scapegoat and declared him to be a free agent bust. But he returned to form in the second/third year of his deal. I remember Handzus saying something to the effect of "I was cleared to play 12 months after the surgery but didn't truly feel 100% until 18 months later." Handzus was older, so I'm not sure if that traditionally makes it tougher for recovery.
Hopefully Talvitie can carve out a spot in the AHL. I was hoping he'd be a Brylin-esque role player.

2018: Ty Smith (2016-17 Canada Black U17, 2017-18 Canada U18, 2018-20 Spokane Chiefs)
Yegor Sharagovich (2020-21 Dinamo Minsk KHL, that might have been temporary but I’m giving it to him lol)
2019: Jack Hughes (2017-18 USDP U17, 2018-19 USDP U18, 2018-19 USA U18)
Tyce Thompson (2020-21 Providence)
i feel like that describes a looooot of our prospects. it's very nice that were starting to mix in some blue chip talent in smith, holtz, and probably whoever we draft in this year's first round.
once we have a better handle on our prospects floors/ceilings, i would expect fitz to trade some of these valuable bottom 6 guys to upgrade in other areas. the anderson trade clearly wasn't worth it, but in principle it's still a good philosophy to espouse
