Some people root for the team above hero worship. The people who love when they lose seem to be the coach haters, btw.
That is a broad stroke...which is not true.

I dislike Hak because I don`t think he wins many coaching matchups. He almost always is too slow to react to in game issues. Not to mention his icetime deployment. With the way Laughton was playing for example, reward the f***er by giving him more and more ice-time. Instead, Laughton had 4 shifts after his SECOND goal of the game....one of them was for 20 seconds, the other was for 10 seconds. I WILL give him credit for the timeout and goalie change at the right time...which is the 1st time in 4 years that has happened. Also benching Lehtera for half the game.

But I can`t root for the team to lose this early in the season even though I know, a better coach will be what we need to be an actual contender. I don`t need wins and loses to determine anything. We will always lose when it counts under Hak.

Folin & Hagg with team lows among defensemen, at just under 17 minutes. I'd like to see a little bump for Sanheim but again, if he took Provy's spot on PP2, there's that bump in time. Weise has earned his playing time that he's getting, which is good to see. I'd like to see a little more time for Laughts but that's the only area I'd say was a bit off. Well proportion, in my eyes.

The problem with getting time for Laughton and NAK right now is no 4th line center who can skate with them, and no room to bump Laughton up with Weise playing so well on the third line. It gets worse when JVR and Raffl return, which is why Laughton should probably move back to 4C this year.

Although I'm not sold on Weal as the 3C, so far so good, he's buying time for Rubtsov and Vorobyev this year and Frost next year.

But these are GOOD problems for the most part.

Yep. I want Hakstol gone, but when I look at a PGT after a win and the first comments are about ice time distributition (usually including Sanheim), I have to wonder if some people are even rooting for the team or if they just want to watch their heroes.
It's beyond annoying at this point.

It has nothing whatsoever to do with "heroes and h8ers" and it's ridiculous to suggest that it does. The only thing it has to do with is 274 ****ing games of proof that our coach is out of his depth and is totally incapable of either leading us to the promised land or even shepherding us through the rebuild with his abject uselessness at "development."

People can whine about the whiners until they are Weise ... excuse me, I mean hoarse, but the fact is that we hate the coach because the coach is incompetent, not out of some ... I don't even know what fantasy spite you could come up with to explain it. This isn't Facebook - people who are complaining about this dunce by and large know what they are talking about.

I was making a specific response to Striiker’s broad stroke against Hatcher.

He hates its time for change. G is good when its weaker teams but they all die in the big games IMO. Philly is dull because of the players and throw in the coaches to if you want. Just change this dull led group already Hexy.

3rd all time in Flyers assists (about to be 2nd)
5th all time in Flyers points (about to be 4th)
4th all time in Flyers games played (about to be 3rd)

Who knows where he'll be by the time he's done...

How many decades will it be before we find another player like this?

I dunno, you'll find out a decade later.
I mean Giroux didn't even start until he was 21, Patrick is 20, Frost is 19, Farabee is 18, who knows?
Nor do I care if we ever have another Giroux, I'd rather have a SC than a HOF candidate.
That is, I'd rather have a deep talented team than a couple stars who can't put us over the edge in the playoffs.

Now I like G's intangibles (but not Voracek's), I just think people here are homers, every outside observer rates G around 15-20th in the league (he'd been in the top 10 five years ago), and he's not going to get better as he ages. That's reality.

It’s all about the heroes. Oh the denials last night at my suggestion that Ghost has made an inordinate number of bad turnovers this season, & the recoil at my statement that I’m growing sick of his mistakes. What’s funny is that some people acknowledge Voracek’s inordinate number of frustrating turnovers, but they seemingly haven’t reached the point yet of perceiving that Ghost has the exact same problem.

And yes, even after wins, the #1 priority seems to be to bitch about the deployment of the favorites.

Hero worship first.
Hak hate 2nd.
Flyers 3rd.

Nice win, the PP and PK are horrible, which is bad, but Ghost scored an OT winner, which was normal, and good.

So happy to see improvement in coaching, the time out after the 2nd shorty, actually showing some emotion on the bench. The bar is so low for the head coach, but he somehow managed to clear it. Surprising.

The Yotes up 4-2, and spending massive amounts of time in the Flyers end, it was- YEAH! Anti-Hak-Shell, that's how teams should close it out. But then they gave up a goal, ok, still up by one. Then Yotes went into a shell, so obviously they got scored against again. Tsk tsk. And the head coach even played the hot hand, Laughton, way to be.

Nick Cousins, miss ya man. I find it hilarious how many people said he was a marginal NHL player, but the guy gets ice time.

Still fell asleep on the game, I think during the 2nd period. Woke up and rewound with the DVR, DVR is the best.

I'm fine with Ghost making mistakes if he contributes like he does, his style of play of pushing the pace and starting rushes is going to lead to mistakes. A lot of the frustration for me comes from guys who play the role of a defensive forward or defensemen, contribute nothing offensively, and make the same mistakes.

Guess you aren't able to connect the dots and realize the complaints are about things that will prevent this team from being successful? People want the team to win... that's the whole source of the complaints.

It's just some people are capable of looking at the big picture and seeing harmful patterns that will cost us in the long run, instead of being blinded by a single win.

And I guess you're also struggling to understand that people want to watch their "heros" play because they're the players that win us games. Again, it's all because we want wins... that's why we like the players who help accomplish that. Ever notice that the guys everyone hates are terrible and the "heros" are good? No, of course not....

You said you were sick of him and done with him after a play that was entirely not his fault and advocated trading the guy.

You even said something always seems to be going wrong when he’s on the ice, then he proceeded to get us to OT then win the game. It’s ridiculous at this point.

A) Part of it absolutely was his fault

B) I wasn’t basing my opinion that I’m sick of him on one play, but rather the culmination of many plays this season & over his career

C) I never said he wasn’t insanely skilled & capable of making excellent plays

A good rule of thumb would be that if you have to lie to make your argument, you don't actually have a valid argument.

What's the point in someone going out of their way to lie about Ghost's play...? I don't get it.... It's not even like anyone will believe the lies, so what's the objective here?

Except that's not it at all.

Lots of people said Ghost messed that goal up...myself included. But also said the ref played a big part in it as well. As for on the whole season...sure...he and Provy both seemed to have more unforced turnovers than last year. Provy had 2-3 last night as well, himself.

Some just think it's dumb to want to trade Ghost for a 1 dimensional, soft RW when we already have Jake and TK here. Especially when we have no Dman who can do what Ghost does on the PP or 3vs3. And for all the "just a PP specialist" talk we hear from certain people, Ghost was 17th in ES points last year.

I think Ghost and Jake are very similar in that they both do make more mistakes than others, but also have the ability to do thinks offensively that others don't on our team.

As for icetime, for the 100th time, it's because the icetime TODAY will help us win in the future more. We have a coach that is risk averse and some of us want one that isn't. We are drafting high skilled guys, but the coach prefers low skilled ones. That's an issue.
