USGA better hope the wind rolls in around here or the winner could be 20+ under…

Fairways too wide, course too short.

A lot of rhese pins are a joke and funnel ball right to the hole.

It’s a nice course but way too much of a birdie fest right now.

have a drink every time Paul Azinger tells you how far and straight modern Tour players hit it…you’ll need your stomach pumped by end of broadcast

They just said that the players are hitting 66% of the fairways and the pga tour average is 58%. This makes the course too susceptible to low scoring.

Lol Someone shouted “Let it snow” as clear as day after DJ teed off on the par 3.

Hit it 20 yards long, into bunker on 18…

This shows that right now if you hit it in the fairways, you are going low. Unless the USGA can do something to change things up over the next 3 days.

They will place pins and make the course tough any way they can starting overnight tonight.

This course is going to start eating guys alive irrespective of weather changes. Day 1 always has low scores. Cut line appears to be at +1 and IMO is going to end up more like +3 leaving few guys at the top battling it out. It will weed out the "frauds".

These guys aren't going to be laying up on fairways when the leaderboard is thinned out and the top spot is in reach. They're going to be taking risks - some will succeed and many will have crucial mishits costing them a chance. That's just how it goes unless you're Tiger.

What did they think would happen if they have fairways that are almost 50 yards wide?? :help: Hopefully this is the last time we ever see this venue used for a US Open. Just awful. Thank goodness we have Pinehurst, Oakmont, Winged Foot & Shinnecock to look forward to in the next few years. :yo:

The course is more "gimmicky" than hard. You can get into trouble with a bad shot but with 37 players under par on Day 1 that is not a typical US open course.

Already two birdies on the 297 yard par3 4th.

There were 4 all day yesterday when it was playing 250 yards.

Never seen that before, group on the par3 4th waived up the group behind to tee off while they were still on the green, like you sometimes see on driveable par4s.

Apparently USGA directive for pace of play

Scottie ranked 105th yesterday and currently 108th in SG Around the Green; everything else was near the top. Gotta think the best part of his game draws low numbers today and here on out.
