Like Maximus said, and I go by his theory as well. We have much better efforts vs "better teams", in fear of being embarrassed. Early on Boston wasnt looking great, but got it together over last 8 games, especially against Philly. Their front net extra effort/greasy goals are what they DO, and what the Rangers NEED to do better.
Logic says we get stomped, but withstanding great games by Gary Doak,
Jean Ratelle and
Joe Zanussi (see what I did there?) We win 4-3 in O.T.

Rangers tend to play up to good teams and also tend to play well when/if the other team has a pest like Wilson or Marchand running around. Seems to just get everyone humming a little more.

Would have rather had George against the Isles, as their offense is way worse. But you can’t flip about the possibility of him starting that game, and now also flip about him starting this one after not getting the last game. Backups play games. This is how it works

I feel like some games where we give up a ton of shots are actually really good for our goalies. It usually means we're ahead or tied and the other team is just throwing pucks at the net hoping for something. As opposed to games we trail when the opponent largely plays dump and change.

Does anyone have the stat breakdown for goalie save percentage based on number of shots faced in the game?
