it doesn't matter if he gets into an altercation though. when a player is ordered to the dressing room by the ref and returns to the ice for any reason, it's automatically a 10 game suspension

still was fun as hell to watch though. Was like watching the 90's avs rivalry again

Surely Tkachuk will face a suspension too? I'm sure there's something in the rulebook about laying hands, or equipment, on a player that's being escorted off the ice, that's already in the area of the bench no less, or maybe not?(This is a actual question, not meaning to sound like a smart ass, sorry.)
Pretty cowardly thing to do either way, but it made for some excitement.

If Wit gets ten games, Tkachuk needs to get something similar.

Any word on Daley? Be interesting who Holland brings up if Daley is expected to miss some time. Hronek has been playing very well lately.

Tkachuck gave him a tap on the calf.

Not the same thing.
Witkowski was ordered out of the game, placed on the bench and came off . That's pretty cut and dry.

Witkowski was pretty dumb tonight. A 10 game suspension wouldn't bother me at all. Unless the cap is an issue.

If there is one thing we can all agree on, it's having a guy who can beat some ass in the lineup. Hockey is a physical game with emotion and hatred and cheap shots. There's still a place for a team guy like 82. You are lying if you say you don't miss the days of D-mac, Joey, Probie (He doesn't' count, he was a solid player too)

McCarty could hold down legit minutes. Kocur only handled 8-10, but when he came back he was also in his mid30s and his hands were messed up. If Witkowski could handle the 15 minutes a night that Mac regularly held down he'd be a much more valuable player, and the sort of guy I think everyone around here wants to see more of.

It has nothing to do with how dangerous the stick infraction was and how out of control the action was and how it instigated the larger blow up. The NHL needs to throw as many games as they can at guys like this to encourage them to remove their heads from their rears. If the NHL doesn't, guys like Tkachuk will just become bigger problems.

Witkowski is going to get 10 games. I am curious what they assess to some of the other guys involved. He simply cannot turn around and go back on ice though. Tkachuk should get something for striking a player being escorted by officials off the ice surface though and Ferland and AA could be in trouble for swinging from the bench.

The only ones who should get anything are Witkowski and maybe a game for Tkachuk.

What I didn't know about Mantha prior to him becoming a full time player was his meanstream. He's a future power forward.

Mantha is going to need to tone down wailing on guys when they are down and out. This time there was some justification but he is going to get himself seriously hurt in response if he finishes fights like that. And he is a young kid who is not going to end up being a heavyweight. He will get beaten in these altercations at some point.

I think they were throwing with guys down and out as a point on Brouwer.

I know he has a past history but both Mantha and Witkowski didn't let up for a reason in my opinion.

I agree though, he cannot violate that code for a while now, guys around the league are going to start to talk.

Still Hamonic can whine up a storm, he threw punches when the gloves weren't down and was actually trying to throw them from his back before Mantha got readjusted and started raining on him. The game got nasty, when it got out of hand you knew payback would be wanted by the Wings for Brouwer massively breaking the code last week.

Mantha better not be suspended. Witkowski I thought got punched in the head going off. Also I dunno about anyone else but I really love going 11 and 7 cause it gets the young guys more minutes

I definitely disagree with Mantha's punches after harmonic was down, but I'm not gonna lie I'm happy he has a nasty edge to him. Not since Shanny have we had a player like that.

how does the same player get two game misconducts? lol

Mantha got 2 game misconducts for the following reasons:

1st one because he got involved in a secondary fight (altercation) which he and Hamonic both got.

2nd one the officials must have ruled that Mantha's jersey was not tied down which is an automatic game misconduct for not doing so.

You're right, we need another Drew Miller or Riley Sheahan in there. That'll totally do the trick because Witkowski is 1000000x more useless than those guys. Good grief..........

If you want to give me a worthless guy versus a worthless guy who will fight for his f***ing crest on his sweater, I want option #2.

I don't care if they handle Witkowski 10 games or whatever. Mantha should be finne. He wooped his silly ass... atta boy, like that kid more and more after every game. Glad to have someone who can fight and step up because Abdelkader is no good at fighting... Witkowski, on the other hand, seems to be pretty good. I just hate that no one really beat the crap out of Thkachuk. He's gonna give Marchand a good run for his money as a most disgusting face of NHL. I hate them both... would like to run into one of those two somewhere one of those days. Would fix their attitudes in 10 seconds.

I think the one thing people are completely misunderstanding is the kulak witkowski incident. Witkowski was flinging kulak around to be violent or cause harm, both of kulak hands are both gripped hard on wit, he pulled him up and pushed back to get him to release/break his grip. Kulak was in a very vulnerable pos. And he could have really harmed him if he wanted to, but that wasn't his intentions, it was to break kulak grip and if you have been in a fight you might have done the same just like when you jerk a guy forward and then back in a fight... It's to break grips and get loose. In a fight its to get loose and swing, after a fight its to get loose to get out.

Ding ding ding. Flame fans are acting like he was purposely trying to smash the dudes head into the ice. Utterly f***ing ridiculous.

And smoke a cig after like good old Probi used to do :(

Seriously, give this guy a deal. I miss Darren McCarty... that guy was something elsle. He knew his role and he was aware that he is not on par with our stars so he had no problem keeping the house clean every night... he was willing to fight with any tough guy in the league(except Twisto, because Bowman told him to sit down :) ) Not saying that Witkowski would score pretty important golas here and there like Darren, but we should def give him a chance.

Rasmussen is supposed to be even nastier. Can't wait to have him on the team as well. Put him on a line with Mantha and boom instant Legion of Doom 2.0
