Probably my favorite wings game this season. All that fighting was amazing, witkowski is a beast, mantha is fearless, Howard is always down to scrap. Love seeing Calgary get owned like that.

Give Witkowski a 5 year deal....bout time someone played with some passion and didn't take **** from another team.
Just watched his post game interview, he's a beauty. Also, he's a great scratch guy. He plays offense and defense. He doesn't make costly mistakes particularly on defense. Provides grit and sticks up for his teammates. Has a fantastic beard. Not saying throw him in the lineup everyday but as a scratch guy he's perfect.

My gosh is Mantha ever a beast. I’ve had a great feeling about him since we drafted him - glad he’s showing his star potential.

My honest hope is that Mantha and Larkin continue to carry the team to a WC spot. I then hope they use that experience to grow further.

We’d obviously lose draft position, but then I’d use whatever hope I have left to maybe draft a steal of a defenseman later in the draft. Unfortunately our scouts have failed at that for years now.

These types of games + Larkin, Mantha and AA all being our best players is what's going to make people want to watch games. As much as we all know we need some elite defensemen and another elite center, f*** it if Mantha is going to be this good.

I gotta say, if the kids keep getting minutes, and keep producing it's going to be a fun season to watch. We are a fast team, with a good amount of skill up front. If goaltending holds up, and the D can limit the bonehead turnovers (I'm looking at you Ericsson) we should push for a playoff spot. Our division is weak. Tampa is the heavy favorite, after that I think it's Ottawa/Toronto and then us. I don't even know if Ottawa/Toronto are even a tier up on us at all. I guess we'll see. This stretch of home games will determine our fate. Need to win 2 of every 3, and if we do that we're in good shape.

That was very satisfying seeing Hamonic get his butt whooped by Mantha. Hamonic was being an idiot all night with cheap shots after the whistles all game. I love how feisty JHowww is and I was really hoping for a goalie fight.

It has nothing to do with how dangerous the stick infraction was and how out of control the action was and how it instigated the larger blow up. The NHL needs to throw as many games as they can at guys like this to encourage them to remove their heads from their rears. If the NHL doesn't, guys like Tkachuk will just become bigger problems.

It's still not going to draw anywhere near the same level of discipline Witkowski got.

Witkowski was done for the game.
He was escorted out of the game.

Great overall game by the guys, Hopefully we keep it up against Buffalo and Colorado. Should Witkowski get suspended and Daley is out then Holland will probably need to bring up someone for tomorrow nights game against the Sabres looks like DDK wont be back until at least Sundays game against Colorado.

You're right, we need another Drew Miller or Riley Sheahan in there. That'll totally do the trick because Witkowski is 1000000x more useless than those guys. Good grief..........

If you want to give me a worthless guy versus a worthless guy who will fight for his ****ing crest on his sweater, I want option #2.

I think my goal would be to not have worthless guys. :D

That's not really what I was getting at, though. The guys you listed and that used to really define this team could and would drop the gloves, but they were also solid hockey players and could take a regular shift. I appreciate Witkowski answering the bell, I'd take him over Miller any day of the week, but he's not the same caliber of player as Mac, Probie, or even Kocur. They weren't Shanny good, but they weren't bad hockey players.

I understand why people like Witkowski, but I agree with those who say he should be suspended. I think it has to be 5-10 games, you can't do what he did.

Agreed. It'd be nice if Tkachuk got a game for following Witkowski to the bench and engaging a player who wasn't on the ice, but that seems extremely unlikely.

Uhh I don't know ... I'll believe it when I see it. I mean last season our division was awful and we had a terrible division record, which was the primary reason why we missed. So far we're 2-5 with both wins being SO. TB and TOR are just bad match ups. We do okay against Ottawa, but they're still the better team. BOS and MTL are still better than us imo and so is FLA. BUF is a total mess yet again and we lost to them already.

On the bright side, these 19 games so far have been way more exciting than the entirety of last season, so there's that.

Wow, this game was really fun to watch. One of our most entertaining games for quite some time.
Great to see our young guns playing their heart out & showing off their skills like that.
