It's still not going to draw anywhere near the same level of discipline Witkowski got.

No, it won't, but it's crap the league needs to come down hard on and won't. Just like it won't nail guys for slew footing or spearing. They'll come down on Witkowski and he's going to miss a good chunk of his paycheck, and they'll be harder on it than they have been on legitimately reckless and dangerous plays.

edit: Re11/7: I'm not sure we have enough guys to even ice a full contingent on the front or the back unless Helm can get healthy quick. At some point, we're going to have to call someone up.

I understand why people like Witkowski, but I agree with those who say he should be suspended. I think it has to be 5-10 games, you can't do what he did.

I don't think Witter deserves a 10 game for what he did, but you can't leave the ice and come back. Thems the breaks.

You can't come back to the ice after you've been told to leave, period. That would be a suspension in any era.

Sold out =! actual attendance. I'm sure every ticket was 'sold' (or given away), but at least 25% of the seats weren't occupied. I'm not really surprised since pretty much all professional leagues are in the same boat. Tickets are too expensive, the corporations buy too many sections and don't use the tickets.

Wings' boat seems particularly heavy, they're not the only team with fancy and expensive lower bowl seats, but they definitely have the most problems actually filling them. Sold or not.

Not to forget, this problem happened for the Wings already the last few seasons at the Joe. Sellouts aplenty, full attendance not so much.

For the Wings I still get it. It sounds nice for everyone involved to have a sellout. But when you can visually see the empty seats you're probably going to get called out for it. Maybe they just don't care as much as the fans.

lol no kidding. he's looking like he has the perfect skillset for that position.

I'm glad he's carried that with him into the NHL! He will f*** you up if he wants to. So glad we have a talented player that isn't afraid of physicality for once. The spirit of Howe and Shanahan lives on.
