By saying that you're conveniently forgetting all the times Koivu has stepped up. But that's the nature of people.

I've said this before and will say it again: break up Vanek and Koivu, both will be better off.

I'm having trouble remembering, and that's the issue. There is nothing "convenient" about it. I can't even recall the last time he was even remotely close to being our best player on the ice, and that's a problem. He isn't getting paid what he is and getting the ice time he is to be getting outplayed by our bottom six. It's unacceptable.

One thing I don't understand about this team is that we never pump up the intensity when we are faced with adversity. Two of our players were the victims of cheap shots, but we continued with the game like nothing had happened. Play pissed off, pump up the intensity. You don't need to fight anyone, or retaliate, just play pissed off and play harder when stuff like this happens.

It's game 7 in the season but I understand where your coming from...I'm pretty sure we were all calling for more fire last year at certain times and we are still one of the less physical teams in the league. Yet we have played some pretty tough teams with guys out (TB(Callahan, Hedman) NYR (Stephan) and tomorrow BOS (Chara) Now we have haula out for who knows how long and if this team can just learn to win on the road...

It puts it into perspective when you point out he is being outplayed by every single player in the bottom 6. All of them have equal or more points and don't get PP time.

Then I must have a much better memory than you. If you were just talking about this season, I might see where you're coming from (although I would still say you're overreacting) but since I'm getting the impression that you're not, I have to say that I don't see where you're coming from. At all. Therefore this is probably not a discussion worth having.

You do realize that statement doesn't only apply to Koivu, right? I'm not saying he shouldn't be producing more, but he's not the only one in the top 6 getting out scored by players on 4th line (currently). Yet he gets the blame for losses, the PP not scoring and his line not scoring. The others don't.

Who else does it apply to?

Vanek(4 pts), Granlund(3 pts) are both bunched right with our 3rd/4th liners.
The only regulars producing equal or less than Koivu are Brodin, Dumba and Haula.

One brightspot after a crappy game was Fonzy out there in the second. Setting up 2 big goals at the time coming off another worthless power play.

Tomorrow is a huge bounceback game for this team to right the ship. It all starts with our captain as mentioned before. He needs to set the tone from puck drop if this team wants to win.. not getting my hopes up though.

But he's the only one that has zero excuses. That's really the point.

He's the only one with no excuses? I'd say having the totally wrong player on his line is an excuse just as good as the ones the others supposedly have. So I disagree with you on that point too.

What wrong player is that? The guy who has to basically be injured to not score 30 goals a season? The guy who scores EVERYWHERE else he's ever played, except with our illustrious captain?

Let's put it this way; if you are a center and you can't help Thomas ****ing Vanek score, then you are playing like garbage.

Vanek is an offensive specialist who sometimes specializes in being lazy and uninspired. He's not a hard worker. He needs a certain type of a center to score and 2nd-tier competition to succeed. That's how he's scored so many goals. Right now he has neither. Yeo has no idea how to use him. It blows my mind that you apparently blame Koivu for Vanek's lack of scoring. As far as I'm concerned, this discussion is over.

And this "lazy" and "uninspired" offensive specialist has outplayed our captain thus far; who happens to be centering his line.

And I do agree, he does need a certain type of center to score. A center that isn't playing with his head up his ass.

Oh wow. That was such a Finnish 3rd period. Personally I'm not even upset though, the Wild keep playing like this and they'll break 100 pts. We really do need to change up the powerkill somehow though.

+++ Scandella, wow he's really growing and playing supersolid right now
+ In general I really like how the defencemen are participating in the offense and not being scared of it. Even Prosser!
+ Two periods of domination
+ Zucker showing he needs to stick

- Vanek keeps trying behind the back passes from everywhere (and failing). I thought he liked to score goals, instead of passing to a worse positioned player while being 2 on 1.
- Pominville could've scored like 4 tonight
- Granlund training to shoot more. Well, it didn't look like it with the pass to Koivu in the 3rd(?). Good that he managed to end his drought tho.
- I thought the Wild looked tired/slow in the end so I'm not expecting a lot against Boston
---- Obvious powerkill

I shut the game off when Haula got elbowed, because I knew the Wild would lose. They were up 2-0 about to go on a 5 minute PP. That's how predictable they are. I had so little faith in the team, and they proved me right. That's not good.

I actually fast forwarded the game to see the final result after 3-1. It was very predictable indeed. They let the Rangers dictate pace completely.

If this team were Japanese, everyone associated with the organization would have performed Seppuku on themselves. That's how embarrassing this was. And you can't finish a game with intensity after they take out one of your best players? **** off.

For people who are saying vanek is "done".

Rick Nash was "done" also, and look at what he is doing this year.

How so?
No one suggested Nash was ever done.
Maybe by misinformed fan bases. Ranger fans were dissapointed due to his so called superstar status and were frustrated with his play last year especially in the playoffs but he still scored 26 goals.
Some wanted him traded and many suggested he was overpaid but calling done is untrue.
In a way he is like Praise.
Gets paid a lot and has had previous success on other teams.
More is expected from both.
Every single NHL team who could afford Nash would have lined up for a shot if the Rangers made him available. That price would be pretty steep.
Let's not forget how much the Rangers gave up for the guy so that in itself causes negative reactions.
If Pominville was having an off year the same questions of did we give up too much would arise.

It's something about Minnesota sports. Was following the game at work on my phone and once I saw that game go 4-3 I just knew we were going to lose. I was just asking myself out loud "will we lose in regulation or OT/SO?"

It is kind of amazing how things can snowball if you take your foot off the gas. Hopefully last night was a very valuable lesson for this team.

I suppose if there's any positive to take away, at least it was to an eastern conference team. Haha
