I would've tried to get him a shift with the other 3 lines, switch him with Malone, Panik or Palat just to see if he could've got some better chances. They also could've gave him some PP time. He looked good in his limited minutes so hope he gets another game before sent back.

Makes sense. If were going to bring him up might as well see how the chemistry looks.

Zero evidence to support the claim that the Bolts management wants Connolly to fail. There's quite a bit of evidence to the contrary however.

The original post stated that it seemed like he was being set up to fail. Anyway, I like the idea of keeping him up. Playing on the 4th line - well, it may just light a fire under his arse.

I thought Sustr looked very good. Was very disruptive with his stick and made some nice clears

If sustr looked bad I would hate to see how fans of other teams feel about their best d guys this year when facing us. Just saying we have made most teams D look bad at times.

I think he had a couple of plays he got pucks stolen but one was by parise who is honestly an elite type of player so not a big deal he kept battling.

So how do guys feel when battling marty stamkos flip purcell killorn palat lol Got to be ugly if a guy just has a couple take aways a game in his first season lol. Minor ones at that is not like he is turning it over into scoring chances and odd man rushes:)

Sweet addition to see ice time's against/with there. Atleast i am having hard time to trying to track those during the game so its nice to get confirmation after. The same trend continued in all home games. Filppula line plays hard shutdown line against top lines of other team. Crosby/Kopitar/Koivu. Stamkos takes second line Malkin/Richards/Granlund. Johnson gets sheltered minutes. Thats why Flip looked so awesome in first games as he didnt need to play against other's very top while Stamkos has really stepped up in home games.

fenwick really displays what happens with such distribution http://www.extraskater.com/players/on-ice?season=2013&sort=fenwick_pct&sit=5v5&team=tb

changes between last season and this are already so clear. most importantly its much better structured and fits better.

About Connolly. I think its hard to fit him in third line when they are playing so good pretty much every game. And with the way home games seems to be played Flip line is getting very hard minutes so i guess he wouldnt be the best fit there? And Malone has been pretty good imo. Next opponents are big tests for home advantage considering how away games went.

I love Salo but gotta agree with some of you here and he has been pretty bad at times, probably the worst of all. Dont like him in PP either but not sure is Hedman really that bad that he cant play it? I just dont see the combination and how's it supposed to work. I know they got like 4 goals but still, its just so akward at times.

I would love Hedman on the PP so much. Salo has a better shot, but Hedman could really open things up with his mobility and excellent passing. Oh well, what can ya do.

I think the game was too squeaky close to do it, and no one was playing poorly enough to sit out for him. It's a matter of space. Connolly was brought up because it looked like there was space for him. It turned out there wasn't, so they tried to make the best of having him up here and got him a few reps on the 4th line. And they probably would have bumped him up had the game not turned out so tough.
