Going to be a long season if the top "defensive" defensemen play like this all 82 games.

Solid start to the year. Beating the champs in their own building after the banner raising. Hank was great, Stallinberg was great, Yandle-Klein was great and Zuccarello was quietly excellent defensively. Top-4 defense was bad, Brassard was bad.

Not a bad game. The first period was well played. I thought we would have scored a couple more, but a W is a W. Held on and lived through a heart attack. Classic Rangers win. Love it.

First win of the season!!!

Didn't like what I saw from some players but lets remember it's the first game of the season...

We were holding on for dear life at the end there. Felt like a big win.

A lot of people are going to need to get a better handle on their nerves here or it's going to be a long difficult season for you.

Anyway, I thought the Rangers played pretty well. Lundqvist needed to be good, but I wouldn't call it a stand on his head performance. Lots of clear views and easy saves.

Not too worried about the quick whistle, since the refs basically gifted the Hawks a goal earlier on the blown icing call.
