So let's see: we have: Krejci, Bergy, Spooner and Campbell.

I'd start looking for a dance partner to take Kelly off our hands, Spooner looks damn good and only has room to grow into a bigger role, Kelly on the other hand is useless unless if he's at center.

I suppose you could just buy him out if you wanted to, but that seems so cruel after all he's done for the team.

I don't move Kelly, yet.

Keep him for this run, he will come in very handy. He's great at the dot and on the PK.

Kelly as a 4th line center, PK specialist (pair him with Eriksson) is ideal. He will offer awesome depth if/when there is injury. He can be this years Peverley. In the offseason you ask him to waive his no trade clause, say thank you very much and move him for a couple of picks to help restock the farm.

Move Kelly in the summer, love what I`m seeing from Spooner, not loving him missing his assignments defensively, hasn`t hurt the B`s as much as it could have but......

Keep him up with the big club for the playoffs, allow him that exposure to the playoff game, then approach Kelly in the summer, these guys are pro`s, they know when the writing is on the wall, I`m sure Kelly would be disappointed, heck, I`d be disappointed to see him go but it`s a business and at some point, that prospect who`s knocking on the door, needs to be let in full time

Krug essentially replaced Ference. While the 3rd pairing loses some defensive prowess, they make up for it in offensive skill. More than a fair trade-off. I love Andy, and he was a great leader, but we have enough leadership to perservere.

Spooner essentially will replace Kelly. While the 3rd line loses some defensive prowess, they make up for it in offensive skill. More than a fair trade-off. I love Kelly, and he is a great leader, but we have enough leadership to perservere. And he's on my 4th line, so we wouldn't be losing anything he brings to table. He'll be getting 12 minutes instead of 14. Big whoop.

Personally, I like how our team is becoming more diverse, offensively speaking. Roster redundancy doesn't benefit a team in the postseason. And you can definitely see how much the coaches like the situation.

tuukka saved us in the second.

this game couldve gone the other way 4-1.

our d was running around alot.
these next 3 games will tell us anything we need to know how our current d will do against solid teams.

There's no reason to trade Kelly this season

Agreed. It's getting rid of depth for no reason.

When you have to option to roll a 4th line of Paille-Kelly-Campbell (three guys that could be/are 3rd liners on a lot of other teams), why would you not? Next season we'd have to make a decision, but there's no point right now. Not smart to trade one of your biggest leaders going into the playoffs.

I'd actually keep Kelly and slot him as your 4th line C and make Thornton the 13th forward.

Paille - Kelly - Campbell? Talk about a shutdown defensive line.

No he didn't but since he's above reproach you can keep thinking that. Telling he had the lowest TOI outside Florek and Fraser.

He looked awful as did his line. 0 puck possession, hemmed in ALL game, puck like a damn grenade.

I forgot he's perfect around here.

Why are you always so angry?

Do other fanbases have exciting, talented rookies come up, play well, and then have to deal with others fans ******** all over them?

This is ridiculous. In what universe has Spooner not exceeded what we would have hoped to see from him?

But, after the next 3 games we should have a better idea of how much it could hurt.

Noticed yesterday Campbell got 16:28 of ice time to Spooner's 12:12. Guess the coaches aren't loving him missing assignments either.

Soderberg, Marchand and Smith all played less than 15 minutes. Soderberg played 12:36. Campbell saw 3:21 of PK time and 1:04 of PP time while Chara was in the box

Depends on what aspect of his game you're talking about. His defense is nowhere near where it needs to be and thus, he will be criticized for it until he improves.

Oh wait, clearly that's not allowed here because he's untouchable around here.

My sentiments exactly.

Still doesn't mean he is beyond reproach, not to say you said that but borrowing from an earlier exchange.

I depends on whether the veterans they replace in the lineup are subjects of schoolgirl crushes.

Ali, as much as i was trying to be funny with my previous post about how you should start ripping Kelly since, like Spooner, doesn't play a two game, it is serious.

You ***** and moan about how Spooner doesn't play a 2-way game and you are going to rip him until he does. A two-way player is one who plays in BOTH zones effectively, correct?

What has Kelly done recently that makes him a "two-way" center? Hell, what has he done during his career that he should be considered a "two-way" center? He's very good in his own zone, yup. I have no problem saying that. He's a great defensive center, but when it comes to the other end of the ice, he is abysmal, especially as he gets older......and his defensive game slipped a bit this year also, along with his face offs, two things you hound Spooner for.

So maybe give Spooner a break for not playing a 2-way game. He is learning (he made some good defensive plays yesterday), learning from the best, and he is only 21 years old, a offensive first player is not going to pick up a defensive mindset that quickly. Bergeron didn't when he came into the league, nor did Krejci. It takes time. The kid has wicked talent, and belongs on the team over Kelly. It is what it is. You harping on Spooner isn't going to change that.

Don't be so quick to point out the negatives when it comes to Spooner. He. is. a. rookie. Rookies make mistakes, it happens. There is nothing wrong with people saying that b/c it is true. Every rookie has a grace period. He's played in what 20 career NHL games? He deserves a full season like other rookies got (Seguin, Hamilton) before he gets jumped all over. Besides, he's contributing to wins with his offensive play. So, though he's not great in his own zone, he makes up for it, in the offensive zone. Same can be said for Kelly, except the other way around. but, you need to score goals to win. Which is why i value offense a little more over defense. You can't win a game 0-0. Plus, with the amount of good defensive forwards we have, along with very good defensive defenseman (and a great goalie), i think Kelly's defense-first game, can be sacrificed for Spooner.

Depends on what aspect of his game you're talking about. His defense is nowhere near where it needs to be and thus, he will be criticized for it until he improves.

And for 3 million dollars, Kelly's offensive game is nowhere near where it should be and thus, he will be criticized until he improves on it.

It goes both ways.......
