Thanks

So say in two weeks, Forbort is ready to return. What options do the Bruins have, if Reilly clears waiver and is playing down in the AHL?
Swayman healthy so we can send down Kinkaid frees up some cap. Couple more players still probably have to go down. Probably waive Smith, and if he's taken we're good, and if not waive Stralman.

Worst case. Might be better to just attach a 5th with Smith. And see if someone bites

At the deadline...may need to give up similar(5th or better) just to obtain a Stralman (D depth)

I guess my angle was... how/conveniently?

I dont know if there would be interest for Smith....Bruins may need to ultimately attach extra (picks etc.)

Which would suck

that to me is most likely scenario.
they cant keep waiving players and sending to Prov.. Not feasible to deplete 23 man roster to far. Teams need a buffer .

100%. I liked him as a deadline acquisition. I disliked bringing him back the next season, especially on a 3-year deal, but was open minded. I've tried really hard to like the player since then. He has a couple really nice highlight reel plays, but on the whole he's a net negative.

Just watched Jeremy Rutherford from The Athletic and he thinks Blues could be trading Ryan O'Reilly .Thoughts on him He is a faceoff specialist and hard to play against.Playoff warriors type .I never looked up his cap hit nothing sorry.

It's funny someone posted a thread on the mainboard about blowing up the Blues and O'Reilly was the first guy I thought of. The "box score" numbers are ugly w/ just 2 goals in 11 games and a -12 goal diff, but the advanced numbers tell a different story.

FF% - 52.2% (best on STL)
SF% - 53.4% (best on STL)
GF% - 21.4% (15th on STL)
xGF% - 55.3% (4th on STL)
SCF% - 53.2% (5th on STL)
HDCF% - 55.9% (3rd on STL)

One of these categories jumps out as being not like the others and that's the goals for % category. Interestingly enough his PDO (puck luck) this year is .890 which is the second lowest on the team. On top of all that he's started only 25% of his zone starts in the offensive zone. To your point he's good in the dot (57.3% over the last 3 years) and he's also finished top 5 in the Selke voting the last 4 years.

Like Horvat he's a guy I'd love to add, but I just don't know where you fit him unless there is a major injury. I imagine a team like Colorado (ironic since that's where he started his career) would outbid anything Boston could offer, but he's another guy that I'd go after should he make it to FA this upcoming off-season.

not surprised. Theyre going to need to ‘pay’ to get rid of hm.
Where have I heard this story before?

I remember many thought he would be easy to move.

Wonder if this means they think we're going to lose Kinkaid on waivers when Swayman is healthy? Bussi and Keyser seem like they're doing OK in Prov, so not sure what other reason there would be to get him here.
How many teams need someone at Kinkaids level?

Maybe Bruins attaching goalie prospect + contract to clear cap.

Really botched our free agency from that year when we signed a bunch of overpaid depth guys, half of which ended up on waivers unclaimed.

Another example of extremely bad foresight.

Would Craig Smith at 50% + Reilly for Future Considerations be worth anything?

Bottom pair D and bottom 6 expiring UFA at 4.5 for nothing.

Is that even worth anything to anyone?

I don't think so. It's clear we're not moving Reilly's contract, which pays him $4mil next year, without adding a nice asset. Smith, another player that will be on waivers soon, is not the asset thay gets it done, even at 50%.

Imo, we're going to have to attach a pick to Reilly to move him. Or maybe Smith gets claimed on waivers since he's UFA next season so minimal commitment, but I don't think we're moving both contracts at the same time.

They are compliant. Just have to wait until 5:00 pm for the moves to be made official.

During all the chaos, anyone still think we are moving salary anytime soon, or just impossible with the shit storm happening? McAvoy is coming back, and we probably need to move at least 2 players.
We waived Reilly today. Surprised I haven’t seen a thread for it

Yes because he's not good at what he does. Now we get to pay to dump more players he signed to bad contracts
