But what if AA's "one big hit" comes during this preseason?

I don't want any player's career cut short because of injury, concussion or otherwise. But from a money/contract/cap perspective, there are ways of dealing with it that minimize the risk.

As for injuries, well...the guy has serious talent, but would he be out there if he didn't have at least one drawback?

He is a legit top 6 player, so for money and everything else, I'm very happy with it.

Also, it would be wise of the Jackets to be shopping Umberger now. The guy's salary is really going to be a drain on trying to improve the team, unless we are not going to re-sign Gaborik.

If he stays healthy, this is a tremendous signing. He's still young and will only be 35 when the contract is finished. More importantly, this signing shows that Columbus is a legitimate landing spot for big-time FA's.
