I can safely say I've never correllated a single "woo" at a Penguin game with the Ric Flair "woo". Listen closely. Every single one of them sounds like a 6 year old child. I never thought there'd be anything more pointless and annoying at a game than the "woop woop woop" at Caps games when Gonch carried the puck.

Sorry I forgot, I'm just old as hell and need to make noise for the sake of making noise. Maybe if the seats weren't farther away from the action than in Mellon or the PA system wasn't cranked up ten decibels too high I would, but I'm sure it's still my fault.

It definitely has occurred before the 5-minute mark. To answer your question though, yes, it does factor into me not going to the game. I can't stand it. Think Kurt Angle when he blew up over the fans chanting "you suck".

Among other things, it's totally disrespectful. It broke out early in the 3rd a couple seasons ago when we thumped Phoenix to the tune of 6-1 (or equivalent). It's no fun losing a game like that, but to have to listen to the idiot fans rub it in like that was in very poor taste. I was embarrassed to be a Pens fan that evening.

I find this kinda funny. Not to be a **** but should we instead chant "im sorry your feelings were hurt" ? "Im sorry your making millions and flew across the country and either didnt care enough to put forth an effort or just got ripped up because you suck"?

Respect, opposing teams, and fans just dont go together in sports. Its not embarrasing.

Also just want to point out that the fans who Woo could be streaming out of the building to "beat traffic" in dress clothes while finishing up thier conversation about thier *** toy dog instead. Pros and cons people.

We wish they would stream out of the building.

Also, since you obviously are one of the ones that "Wooooo's". Please explain the reasoning behind the woo! Is it just because it is cool now like skinny jeans, flat brim hats, and high tops?

This bugs me more than the wave.

That shouldn't be possible.

I mean, if Ric Flair had any connection to Pittsburgh it'd at least be something...but

Can't wait until we do that against division rival Carolina next year.

I hate it,I remember watching a pirates game last year and it was there two,but worse, the announcers even mentioned about it, if the arena was smart they would pump up the volume and phase it out.

Or have AJ Burnett (Pirates pitcher for those who don't know) come tell them to cut it out like he did last year at PNC Park. Even better when Engo and Big Bird Bortuzzo aren't playing in the playoffs they can roam the stands snuffing out 'wooers'. Best fan promotion yet!

The Penguins definitely do not need to pump up the volume.

If it annoys our players like another poster said, then stop it, even if Madden tells you it's a great idea. Particularly if its a tie game like last night. How many of Dupes near misses were woo-related?

I don't agree with the whole paying customer thing either. If I pay to get in Oblivion, I can't yell out Hail Xenu as often as I'd like when I see Tom Cruise onscreen. No matter how funny it might be!

People complain about it constantly but it's never bothered me.

Its The Pensblog's fault. And then they insist they have nothing to do with it. Jokes.

Yeah, if I recall correctly, they were initially all proud of themselves when it started...until people starting complaining about how annoying it was/is...then they acted like it didn't start because of them

Everyone who does it should be punched in the face and escorted out of the arena. Nothing worse than me sitting there, concentrating on the game and all these bozos making a noise, way worse than any vuvuzela would be. I cheer, I'm a fan. But 'wooing' is simply embarassing yourself. How about a 'lets go Pens' chant instead? Nah you're too cool for that.

Maybe Sid/Burnett can come out and say it's stupid. Might be the only way it dies.

so there I was, sitting watching the Pens game. All of a sudden, everyone around me just started banging their hands together! What the hell people?

seriously, woooing is dumb, but its really not a big deal. At worst it should draw a "i wish that would stop, oh well" response.

It's the best thing ever. I like even more since it apparently upsets people for some dumb reason. At least they're making noise. Unlike the losers that sit on their hands the first 50 minutes of the game, only to leave early to beat traffic.
