So Robinson thinks DeBoer is good or no?
I know Robinson is hugely respected (and he should be) but I haven't been thrilled with what he's done in SJ.

I don't think he does, because it's mindbogglingly evident how mishandled our young defense became after he left

Considering how much time they spent together in NJ I have to think that DW asked Robinson about DeBoer and considering he's being hired that DeBoer got the thumbs up.
Devils fan here. Deboer is not a bad coach by any means. He is a great structured/systems coach. His major flaw that he is absolutely terrible with young players and favors veterans no matter how poorly they are playing

That's logical, but it wasn't good advice then. He's not necessarily a bad coach in the sense that he does know his systems and play styles, but he's **** at all the coaching bits like making up lineups that make sense and calling timeouts at proper times. He'll also play your starter like he's 2006 Marty
True. Either way, I hope he works out for you guys. There are certainly much worse options out there.

I have no issues with Oates as an AC. What he did with Ovechkin on the powerplay was pretty amazing. What he did with Ovechkin 5on5 was painfully terrible, something a good HC wouldn't have done or would have immediately backtracked on.
