Moving your foot forward and having the puck bounce off it, is a whole lot different than kicking at the puck. It's not like his foot was moving right to left. Nor was his foot pointing directly toward the puck in a kicking motion.

Where I work, there is a ping pong table in the lunch-room. His action looked to me like he was attempting to corral the puck (or a ping pong ball,) not like he was kicking it.

I've played soccer for 20+ years and on some high level as well. That was not a kick. That looked like somebody trying to stop a ball who has just started playing soccer. If THIS is how you kick a ball then I question if YOU ever played soccer.
