both need to go to a team like Columbus, somewhere where they can play, withotu pressure, and get their careers going again.

46 by my count. She is probably including Miller, who should be subject to the slide rule if he doesn't play in 6 NHL games.
The contract will not count towards the 50 limit after it is bought out. This will give the Rangers a little wiggle room if they wanted to make a trade or bring in Fasth/Lindberg after their seasons are over.
Redden was paid $1M sign bonus on $5M salary, owed pro-rated $2.34M this yr plus hypothetical $3.335M compliance buyout after season

Unless the slide rule has changed in this CBA (and the MOA is slient on it), it doesn't matter if he plays in the AHL or any other league, only NHL games matter.Miller will almost certainly stay with the Whale meaning his contract will not slide. He will get a peak this year too I believe.
Fast & Lindberg already count against the limit.
47 players are now contracted folks
Only MSC signed that does not count this year
2 more players on short term NHL deals will be signed now methinx
Plus 1-2 players on AHL deals to help out the Titanic mess aka The Whale
a player aged 18 or 19 signs an entry-level contract with a club (with his age calculated on Sept. 15 of the year he signed the contract) but does not play in at least 10 NHL games, the contract will "slide" or be extended one year.
Its 46 SPCs. Miller and MSC slide. Redden bought out.
Imagine this. Snow/Wang get stoned as spacemen alternatively Darth Vadered by Sather tomorrow and mistakenly claim Redden off waivers while at the same time buying out DiPietro (that then gets picked up by Philly)!
Now THAT would be something
Well back to the option of bringing in Gomez to be the 3rd line C?
It should at least be the case for injured and retired players. That way if Brad Richards calls it quits with 3 years left on his deal, we can strip him off our cap while still paying him.
Sorry if this has been answered already but if Redden is claimed off waivers would the Rangers be on the hook for half the salary?
