For as beloved as Probert was(he was on par, if not more so than Yzerman), Detroit was never going to win with him and his demons.

Certainly was a different time back then compared to now in professional sports. Players still have substance issues but nothing like the 80's.

Honestly, I prefer it this way.

Just because someone comes in wearing what look to be 12 gold chains, doesn't mean they're actually gold.

Or that they have money.
