I love this kid. Amazing to follow whenever I watch Admiral. He is basically a right-handed version of Buchnevich. Same age, same skillset. Tkachyov is more a playmaking winger but he likes to hold on to the puck too. This seems to be the perfect time to dig up that quote by Pedrie "You can't score if you pass the puck"
A bit small but times are changing. Small players seem to find a way to perform if they have the talent, and Tkachyov has the talent.
He also doesn't seem the shy away from making a risky play, again... Same as Buchnevich. Sure, it will cause a turnover here and there, but you need players who are willing to take a risk. That's why Hayes, Miller and Kreider just aren't cutting it in the play-offs right now. They play it safe. He is signed for another year but him being invited to training camp is a good indication of what might come.
If we can sign him, it gives us another great prospect which is what we need. He already has experience playing on NA-sized rinks, having spent a few years in the CHL. I really like the new direction this team is taking. No longer shying away from Russian players. That's where the talent lies, especially these days with the current structure in place in Russia. With the KHL, MHL, and VHL they have a very decent system to develop players. Tkachyov had offers from Chicago and Edmonton last year but he decided to stay with AV. Currently he is signed until 2018.
