I`m giving him the start vs the Pens tomorrow, go ahead, hammer me for that decision.
Doby has done all a backup can be called upon to do, Tuukka`s still my guy
I'm a Tuukka Rask guy as well, but they should ride the hot hand as long as they can.
With no B-2-Back games until mid-December, they should just go "win and you're in" until that B-2-Back.
I would take my chips and leave while ahead with Dobby and not wait for him to have the upcoming obvious bad start after this unsustainable great stretch.
Go Back with Rask tomorrow, Let's see how much he wants to get back that crease.
It`s a slippery slope BD, I totally understand the "hot hand" reasoning but I can`t be convinced that if Doby were to sit for tomorrow`s tilt, he`d lose that hot hand approach by Sunday if Butch decided to return to him at that time.
It`s great to see this competition going on, I love it, don`t care if feelings may or may not be hurt, while I`m loving this current play from Doby, I just don`t see it lasting and that`s fine, I think right now he`s playing the best he has likely in his career and good on him but you can`t let Tuukka sit on the sidelines for an extended period of time then toss him in there with a week, maybe two weeks off.
I`d go Tuukka tomorrow, AFTER he plays well, and he will, I go to Doby Sunday vs the Oilers and I want my #1 guy between the pipes to face the Bolts
He should sit because he just played 3 games in a row including a game in which he saw 42 shots and 13 shootout shots. Rest him. Tuukka usually owns Pitts, Sunday it's back to the hot hand.If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. Why should Khudobin sit after playing one of the best games I’ve seen from a tender in awhile? 40 stops in regulation/OT, gives us the win in the shootout. Khudobin is the guy right now and that could change next week, but I’m riding this streak until it’s done.
I dontI fully expect Tuukka to start either tomorrow versus Pittsburgh or Sunday versus Edmonton.

I would give Rask Pittsburgh, as his stats are much better then against Edmonton who I would give to Khudobin.

This. He swept them. I'd even give him both starts if hes good against Pittsburgh. And if Rask has 2 monster games he starts the Lightening game and Anton plays the next road one since Khudobin really seems to like playing on the road. Imagine a scenaraio where Rask wins 3 straight and then sits 2-3 games because Anton is hot too.
Under Claude we were always really good this time of year leading up to Christmas I think we want to try and get both guys hot and pissed off wanting to play every game and bank as many points as we can before the kids hit a wall and have some rookie cold streaks.
I'd say keep giving both 2-3 consecutive starts at a time apart from head to heads instead of playing them every other assuming both are playing well.
He swept them 4 seasons ago.
Always SweeneyCap mismanagement has started to be corrected by Sweeney? Really? Were Beleskey and Backes just a bad dream of mine?
I'm not sure I'd use "bad" to describe Tuukka's place over the past several years.
I thinking adjectives more like "inconsistent" and "streaky" would apply, though.
Then again, same adjectives apply to Dobby over the past 15 months. No idea why the Bruins' goaltending seems to run hot and cold.
Because the team isn't that strong defensively. Or at least hasn't been the last 3 years.
So basically you agree that no goalie is worth paying a premium salary to, and that money is better invested into the team in front of him, then? I've been saying this forever. You're better off investing in the team in front of the goalie, and going with a middle of the road goalie, than building from the net out. No goalie on earth is good enough to make up for bad defense, so to pay them like they are, is idiotic.Rask is a good goalie but like Price needs an all star defense in front of him to be most effective. Without that he becomes avg like any other goalie. Very hard to be and elite goalie without great Defense or above avg D, most scorers can put it past you if they are given space.
How would you feel if say Doby remains "on fire" for say a game today, then comes out, craps the bed vs the Oilers, they then turn to Tuukka who hasn`t played in over a week and he struggles or shows too much signs of rust?
