I`m giving him the start vs the Pens tomorrow, go ahead, hammer me for that decision.

Doby has done all a backup can be called upon to do, Tuukka`s still my guy

I'm a Tuukka Rask guy as well, but they should ride the hot hand as long as they can.

With no B-2-Back games until mid-December, they should just go "win and you're in" until that B-2-Back.

It`s a slippery slope BD, I totally understand the "hot hand" reasoning but I can`t be convinced that if Doby were to sit for tomorrow`s tilt, he`d lose that hot hand approach by Sunday if Butch decided to return to him at that time.

It`s great to see this competition going on, I love it, don`t care if feelings may or may not be hurt, while I`m loving this current play from Doby, I just don`t see it lasting and that`s fine, I think right now he`s playing the best he has likely in his career and good on him but you can`t let Tuukka sit on the sidelines for an extended period of time then toss him in there with a week, maybe two weeks off.

I`d go Tuukka tomorrow, AFTER he plays well, and he will, I go to Doby Sunday vs the Oilers and I want my #1 guy between the pipes to face the Bolts

I would take my chips and leave while ahead with Dobby and not wait for him to have the upcoming obvious bad start after this unsustainable great stretch.

Go Back with Rask tomorrow, Let's see how much he wants to get back that crease.

agreed JJ, I want to see a Rask who`s pis**d off, come out and play focused and with purpose. I know there isn`t a ton of reasons to expect this if based on the start he`s had to this season but my gut tells me he`ll do just that.

I wonder if we polled the 30 coaches in the league right now about whether there is or isn`t a "controversy" between the pipes the overwhelming majority, if being honest, would likely say Tuukka is still the guy, right now, the B`s have a backup who`s playing very well but he ain`t #1 material IMO

If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. Why should Khudobin sit after playing one of the best games I’ve seen from a tender in awhile? 40 stops in regulation/OT, gives us the win in the shootout. Khudobin is the guy right now and that could change next week, but I’m riding this streak until it’s done.

What if Rask throws a shutout?

That would fuel the discussion, eh?

He should sit because he just played 3 games in a row including a game in which he saw 42 shots and 13 shootout shots. Rest him. Tuukka usually owns Pitts, Sunday it's back to the hot hand.

If that happens I won’t be up in arms, it might be a good idea to rest Dobby during tomorrows matinee.

I would give Rask Pittsburgh, as his stats are much better then against Edmonton who I would give to Khudobin.

Tuukka Rask Career Splits | Hockey-Reference.com

This. He swept them. I'd even give him both starts if hes good against Pittsburgh. And if Rask has 2 monster games he starts the Lightening game and Anton plays the next road one since Khudobin really seems to like playing on the road. Imagine a scenaraio where Rask wins 3 straight and then sits 2-3 games because Anton is hot too.

Under Claude we were always really good this time of year leading up to Christmas I think we want to try and get both guys hot and pissed off wanting to play every game and bank as many points as we can before the kids hit a wall and have some rookie cold streaks.

I'd say keep giving both 2-3 consecutive starts at a time apart from head to heads instead of playing them every other assuming both are playing well.

While I ride the Dobby hot streak for as long as I can this talk of Tuukka's demise is laughable IMO. He did get freight trained earlier this year and missed some time and may not be 100 pct right. I think some def has to do w subpar play but that could also be an issue

I agree with playing Tuka tomorrow.
Last year to many back to back games by Tuka hurt him. why would the same not happen to Doby.
best thing for this team is two goalies who can steal and or win games.
you cant sit either for long periods and then expect them to play well and you cant keep playing one to wear him down.
this could be the best thing to happen to this team.

He swept them 4 seasons ago.

He seems to play Pittsburgh well the 3 times a year we see them. Think that might have something to do with it.

Last year he was forced to play them the game we chose not to start him because Zane got lit up. One start he beat them the other start we lost in OT turned our season around at that point we were struggling he was great in that OT loss. Remember watching that on vacation last year in Whistler. Couldn't watch it at the Keg where we beat the Habs 2 nights earlier because I stayed for a while and had an incident later in the evening. Made friends with my server watching the Pens game whose Dad was a huge Bruins fan in Ottawa and I rented a snowboard to ride with her one day but also got his number and was going to attend game 7 with him if one happened.

Love watching the Bruins in Canada.

Cap mismanagement has started to be corrected by Sweeney? Really? Were Beleskey and Backes just a bad dream of mine?
Always Sweeney

Go read the Summer Tampa board when there was a thread on Steve Yzerman should not be GM because he can not sign FA or make trades

They have a problem with Callahan contract and what he did with the goalie situation specifically Bishop

Oh and Chia go read him

Rask is a good goalie but like Price needs an all star defense in front of him to be most effective. Without that he becomes avg like any other goalie. Very hard to be and elite goalie without great Defense or above avg D, most scorers can put it past you if they are given space.

I'm not sure I'd use "bad" to describe Tuukka's place over the past several years.

I thinking adjectives more like "inconsistent" and "streaky" would apply, though.

Then again, same adjectives apply to Dobby over the past 15 months. No idea why the Bruins' goaltending seems to run hot and cold.

Because the team isn't that strong defensively. Or at least hasn't been the last 3 years.

I kind of get the feeling, some on here would like to see Rask fail and others would like to see Khubodin fail just to say I told you so.I just want the Bruins to win no matter who is in net,but right now I think they have a better chance going with Khubodin.I hope I’m misunderstanding people, but it sure seems that way.

So basically you agree that no goalie is worth paying a premium salary to, and that money is better invested into the team in front of him, then? I've been saying this forever. You're better off investing in the team in front of the goalie, and going with a middle of the road goalie, than building from the net out. No goalie on earth is good enough to make up for bad defense, so to pay them like they are, is idiotic.

How would you feel if say Doby remains "on fire" for say a game today, then comes out, craps the bed vs the Oilers, they then turn to Tuukka who hasn`t played in over a week and he struggles or shows too much signs of rust?

If Tuukka did that I'd lose even more respect for him.

Backups are asked to play well after a week, two weeks, three weeks off. But we don't have to hold Tuukka to the same standard?

Look fwiw, I'm not fooled by Dobby's run here. But at the same time, I've been critical of Rask's play for 2 years. To my eyes, he hasn't played with the fire or desperation he did a couple years ago, and his save percentage shows a steady decline.

If the Rask that started this season had played against NJ, he'd have let in a couple of those breakaways and everyone would be saying, "Well, you can't really blame him for those ones." Bullshit! Rask is one of the most talented goalies in the world and he's paid to be an impact player. We have every right to expect him to not only stop the ones he should but also make 2 or 3 saves a game that are larcenous. Those saves are the difference between a .915 and a .930. That's what great goalies do, that's what Rask was and that's what he should be.

My whole hope with this Dobby thing is that it goes on long enough to put a little fear in Rask. Maybe light a fire in him and get him hungry again. I want to see a determined Rask when he comes back. Throw a milk crate, get engaged! I want to see him play like "this is my goddamn net and I'm not giving it up!"
