Soccer has its moments, but they're far and few in between boring and nothing happening. I enjoy competitions like the World Cup as a side show, have it on in the background and look if someone scores. The closer to the final, I'll pay more attention, but it's not something I would miss if there was none.
There's a ton happening...but unless you really follow soccer, I can see why you think k nothing is happening.

But it couldn't be further from the truth

That's not quite how it happened...

He started off 2016-17 with 23pts in his first 25 games...then hurt his knee vs the Kings.

Missed about 6 weeks, came back...he was placed back as a center, but struggled until he had a sit out a few games again for his knee, when he returned, Therrien put him back at center again.

Then Therrien was fired, Julien came in and continued to use Galchenyuk as a center for another dozen games until he finally him to the wing and he's been there ever since.

Yeah I estimated the stats and I forgot to mention the injury... oops. But what I meant to say was that he showed he could put up points at center (23 in 25 is pretty good) so I did not understand why they did not put him back there for a longer time and on a regular basis. I might be wrong, but I felt he would've found his "groove".

Hey, if watching 22 Euroweenie metrosexuals run around in shorts chasing a ball for 90 minutes while rarely, if ever, putting said ball into the goal is your thing, good for you. Bonus points if you can do it and enjoy it without having to get blind drunk first. But I'm a North American who prefers to watch sports played by men.

I get that, but baseball? A bunch of cheaters taking roids, scratching their balls outside the box, spitting their chew and looking at first base before throwing a ball that isnt swung at and then repeat....there's no action. Its too long.
I've never seen so many out of shape guys in a sport.

I realize autoprix pays to have these ads put on the air, but they really aren't fit for human ears.

The male lead in these commercials sounds like some sort of ancient pervert. "Hey honey...what are you doing on the computer?" "ooooh are you looking at the pictures?" "Why don't I come on over...and wait, what is this commercial about? Cars? Ah! Why look at that. You are looking at the internet pictures of the auto prix cars!"
The acting is so stilted. The accent is unbearable. The tone of his voice...I wonder if he has to wear groucho marx glasses to pull it off.
His voice...it's so wrong...why would anyone talk like that?

Hearing that ancient pervert pronounce certain words, he sounds like a mix between a gangster of the 30s and some crusty old shyster from the hood.

That damn commercial is airing all day now, it's getting beyond annoying, especially when you hear this:

Actual quote: "You can't fool me! You're CHICKING Montreal Auto Prix inventory."

CHICKING? WTF is CHICKING?

That ad is beyond strange. I don’t know who possibly expects anyone to like it. The voice is hackneyed and kind of creepy. He sounds brain injured.

Both it and the C and P ads are offensive - not on moral or political grounds. It’s offensive that they think anyone could find that overcooked drivel humourous or entertaining.

Pretty sure he's just a French actor acting in a second language to save money. It's awful hot garbage.

"A new dress for your cousin, eh?"

TSN690 commercials have gone downhill. I miss the full Electrika jingle. Radio jingles are a dying art.

I wonder how much input 690 had in the ad's creation. They used to advertise services to help clients devise ads.

If Montreal Auto Prix acted on their own and retained this concept, then it's on them.

Sad thing is how it's not just the ads that have gone downhill. The kind of rank amateurs that they allow to host shows now, it's like knowledge and personality don't matter anymore.

I honestly couldn't spot a French accent in the guy's rough delivery. And I've seen enough francophone actors pull off great English enunciation. I just think the guy they chose is just plain wrong for the job. Enunciation and tone are important. My theory is this is one of Montreal Auto Prix's used car salesmen parading as an voice actor.

Lol, that commercial drives me crazy, I listen to sports stations across the country in the mornings. My buddy had a co worker at a plant here who sounded exactly like that dude. Exact. He had moved here from Chateauguay with his customs worker wife. I assumed it was a Anglo-chateauguay local twang.

I'm sure this guy used to be on TV back in the 80's selling cars (not unlike the old Laurentian Plymouth-Chrysler guy with the cheerleaders screaming "Two Five, Two Five") He used to say something like "Don't be shy! Buy a car!" and in this radio spot he also says "Don't be shy" so I'm guessing it's his schtick.

Considering how little most on-air hosts actually get paid, the lousy work hours they pull, and the complete lack of job security they have, it's little wonder that amateur ham radio caliber people like Gallo, Campbell and the like can get gigs. It's also not surprising that some of them have second jobs like real estate, just to make ends meet.

Melnick is probably the only guy on 690 making any real money. Moffatt supplements his income by doing ads and he gets paid by the Als and Impact to do their play-by-play on the radio as well. But most of them are 20-something's fresh out of college. You get what you pay for. Hence the lousy enunciation, stupid gimmicks, lame narratives and complete absence of fact-checking.

I knew a guy who, years ago, was a producer at CJAD. Nice job title but the pay and the hours were crap.

Further to having read Garce's comment about how the accent is an Anglo-Chateauguay local twang, it reminded me of Chateauguay people I've met over the years and there may just be something to that.

What I find puzzling is how no one thought this guy shouldn't have been considered to begin with. Even the ad concept was wrong for the times, with the snoopy controlling attitude and intrusiveness that he evokes. They must have noticed something was wrong since the first concept they used to air was replaced by the current write-up, where the guy is softened up and tries to be more accommodating while still snooping, lol.

I'm positive of it. The way he over enunciates each syllable as he marches through the dialog. Even the way he says "Autoprix" is not very anglo sounding.
He's so bad I think he's in the ownership group. Makes me think of the remington salesman.

The whole internet porn on the computer thing is also uncomfortable and forced.

Habs Twitter answers back to TVA Sports, who wrote an article on Alexandre Alain's off-season plans (which includes training with Marchessault and Gourde). Habs made sure to point to TVA Sports that the info they got for their article was from an interview Habs had with Alain for their own content.

The eagle dares is a massive sycophant. And quite the tool as well. It’s a childish ploy to tattle and instigate.

Did Shaw win those cups in Montreal?

I don’t get the correlation.

The correlation is that he has two Stanley Cup rings that help him block out the noise. Much like Roy's point when he made that comment.
