The thing to hate about the Salvador deal really is that he got that 3rd year which is probably going to present some issues, not necessarily related to being close to the Cap, because we aren't going to be close to the Cap anytime soon or in the future (just realistically speaking), but the fact that you are eating up that amount of money on a guy who's almost 40, was given the C and there's implications in how to deal with that, if he doesn't deserve to be playing (and you realistically could allocate the money he is slated to earn, elsewhere on the team.

In two years they could be rebuilding anyway with no first-round pick, new goalie(s) and who the **** knows what's going to happen in FA this offseason with half our forward core up, or how long Lou sticks around once Marty's gone?

Salvador's contract is the least of my worries right now.

hes made 2 trades in the past 2-3 weeks, how many teams have even done that?

how exactly is that sitting status quo?

We need another forward, then.

Getting Poni back was good but we already knew what he would bring us.

Getting Loki was a hit-or-miss thing and fortunately for us, he is "hitting" thus far.

But we still need a bit more....

Clutterbuck will not help this team beat the likes of the hawks or whoever come playoff time. I'm not talking about tally deals, just in general. And I like cbuck a lot. We need goalscorers and Lou needs to work his mojo to make it work. With the way Loki is playing I can see yayo being included in deals if push came to shove. If we had the top 6 working they way they should and could also grab cal, I'm all for it because he's a gamer. But that's not the case, for now at least.

Why would Minnesota trade a forward when they've got an even worse forward core than we do? Defense hasn't been their problem, even with the $100 million man sucking.

If the reason you hate Salvador's contract is because of the 3rd year, you're not paying attention to our real problems.

We'll cross the Salvador bridge when we come to it. He's not even playing poorly.

We should be looking at Cammalleri.

ive heard some calgary fans bring up something around volch + for cammalleri. i would be all over that in a heartbeat. cammy actually has solid #s this year for the most part though so i dont see any reason why the flames would be looking to move him.

Malone or Purcell? Lightning fans seem interested in dealing one of them for D help. Not sure Yzerman is though.

With JBo finally coming off the books after next year, and Wideman and Giordano signed for a long time, I don't see Calgary taking Volchenkov.

Although it is Feaster.

We need a fast, energy guy with at least some skill. Grabner, Lewis, Seto, maybe even Halischuk

Clutterbuck for Tallinder

Zubrus-Lokti-Kovalchuk
Elias-Zajac-Clarkson
Poni-Henrique-Clutterbuck
CBGB (insert Barch as necessary)

I totally agree. People wanting us to acquire a top six forward have to realize that we don't have the assets to pull off a deal like that. The only other way around that is if someone severely overvalues our tradeable assets like Josefson, Tedenby, Tallinder, or a defensive prospect. With us being very reluctant to give up a high pick, our best bet is a guy to solidify the third line, while trying to retain as many picks as possible.

Tallinder for Clutterbuck or Halischuk do just that. They give us our third line RW that gives us a quick, high-energy, and physical game with some scoring. If not that, then we just have to either hope a guy steps up from within and claims the 3RW spot, which seems like what the Devils have been doing rotating Anderson, Butler, and whoever else is coming up next. Or we can trade from a position of strength or excess in our defense to address an issue that won't require a high price tag. If we do acquire someone, I'd either want someone with speed or someone who is very physical (i.e. Halischuk and Clutterbuck).

I'd be very, very surprised if Lou pulls off a deal for a top six forward without giving up something we'd regret. I think all we have to do now is settle for a third liner and then hope we get three solid lines of chemistry when everyone is healthy outside CBGB.

uhh not so convinced we need a trade at all. don't get me wrong, I wouldn't necessarily oppose one due to our defensive logjam, but the only thing we really need is for our best players to be our best players. especially with zubes coming back soon (?). we need to trade for a top 6? meet mr. kovalchuk. isn't that why he's here?

for the millionth time, if clarkson isn't on fire and if we didn't get all those charity points, we're not even in the playoff picture right now. our top lines need chemistry and adjusting, and it's been that way for awhile. I would call us a decent team right now that could be a hell of a lot better.
