Blackhawks are doing something right. They have a good team and a winning culture, so they can attract European/KHL FA's/late bloomers to sign and contribute.

Not talking about Jurco of course but that Russian guy they are about to sign.

If the Ducks go far on that Eaves trade, that pick turns into a first.
That's a risky price for a guy that's a PP specialist. I know his name was on a few 'buyer beware' lists.

I don't disagree, especially considering half his goals are PP goals. However, he does bring more to the table than just that. He plays quite well defensively too, and brings consistent energy to the table.

Ducks are so starved for goals they don't care where they come from at this point. Eaves slots in at 2nd most goals scored on the Ducks this year.

I'll guess:
1. Bringing in a top-9 forward (age appropriate, not a rental, low acquisition cost, etc.)
2. Wideman on a rocket to the sun (or to another NHL; either is fine really)
3. Shinkaruk/Poirier/Wotherspoon dealt for a pick or expansion draft exempt prospect

Bonus:
Selling high on Versteeg

I'd be completely fine with moving Versteeg (I think a 2nd would be realistic), and brining in another forward.

Friedman was spitballing on 960 this morning on my drive to Lethbridge.
- Calgary will move Wideman if they can. He thinks that there should be a market, just because veteran D always have some kind of a market. That being said, he does come with baggage (ref blindsiding baggage).
- Thinks that Burrows would be an excellent fit for Calgary. Might be a hard move just because of who Burrows is, and the two teams trading. The morning team joked that we need to look through how many Weisbrod guys we have left
- Bishop would be open to a trade, and open to signing. He's already been connected to Calgary; but wonders about his health. Says that GMs know about his health issues and that may scare some guys away.
- Shattenkirk return will be underwhelming because he's thought to have New York and Boston on the mind. He's turned down 3 trade/signs already, and the thought is that Boston or New York won't move assets when they have the opportunity to sign him in the offseason for free.
- Knows Tre has a lot of irons in the fire; of course he can't confirm it because Calgary runs a ridiculously tight ship. If Calgary wins out before the deadline, they'll go buy mode.

I still think Calgary will get one more offensive piece before everything is said and done. I'm not sure if Steeger fits into the plans, and if BT will move him if he can acquire another decent piece.

I was saying to one of my buddies this afternoon that I can see a NYI Vanek type situation on Bishop and Shattenkirk. Asking price so high until the last minute comes and nobody is willing to pay it. With Bishop maybe that is when Treliving swoops in and gets Bishop for pennies on the dollar.

As far as picks, a contender's 2nd is reasonable for Steeger, but it makes no sense to sell him for futures right now given that we're in a playoff berth. Would probably try to move him for someone who puts up comparable numbers but is better away from the puck.

There was a small deal Saturday, the Lightning sent Jeremy Morin to Arizona for Stefan Fornier

My guess would be Montreal.

Seeing Ottawa and Montreal mostly on Twitter. Take that with a grain of salt.

With Hanzal moved, that'll likely open up the market. I had a bad feeling about this deadline, with Hanzal holding up the market until last minute.

Kings have a huge problem scoring goals so naturally, acquire a really expensive backup goalie. Bizarre.
